Ungkal Seongsu
웅칼 성수 Ung is the bear of the Dangun founding myth, and kal is short for kalguksu, knife-cut noodles — the shop builds its bear-themed room around a restorative chicken-broth kalguksu.

A chicken-kalguksu shop on the ground floor of S Tower, 92 Achasan-ro, right by Seongsu Station exit 4. The signature ungkal — chicken-broth noodles crowned with a whole flame-grilled chicken thigh — and the spicy yeolkal are 12,900 won; turmeric rice and buckwheat tea come free. Most seating is at bars, and you order by QR code at your seat or at a kiosk. The brand began in Hwagok and also has a Gangnam branch. We read 30 posts from June 5 to October 1, 2026; 19 describe a visit. We set aside 4 about other branches or passing mentions and did not count 7 list-style roundups.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Instead of water you get buckwheat tea — ten posts mention it, one noting a big jug even for a solo diner. Several also note hair ties, salt and pepper set at every seat.
- Seating is mostly bar-style. Six posts say every seat is at a bar facing the wall or the kitchen; two say there are tables or two-tops too; one says 'mostly counter seats.' One counted about 25 seats, another about 30. One writer thought groups of three or more would struggle to talk face to face.
- You order yourself: ten posts say so — seven by QR code at the seat, three at a kiosk by the door. One notes ordering instructions in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese beside the kiosk.
- Four posts say the kitchen is open and you can watch the chicken being grilled from the bar.
2 more
- Four posts call the yeolkal spicy; two say it is more warming than hot, one comparing it to store-bought ramyeon.
- Five posts say it is about a minute's walk from Seongsu Station exit 4, across from the Olive Young building.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
Five posts say it is about a minute's walk from Seongsu Station exit 4, across from the Olive Young building.
Getting inside
No one described the floor or any stairs from experience; only the address says ground floor.
We don't know about a step at the door or wheelchair or stroller access; one post went with children but said nothing about it. That means no one wrote about it, not that it's a problem.
We don't know whether the restroom is inside; one copied info block says it is gender-separated, and one post saw restroom directions posted at the counter.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 24 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Waits vary: four posts walked straight in (a weekday evening, an off-hour weekend, first in at 6 pm), and one June Friday afternoon visit waited behind two parties. No one recorded a peak-lunch wait. One post mentions a waitlist tablet at the door, CatchTable, and waiting seats at the entrance.
- Portions split three to two: three found it generous, two found the noodles alone a bit small and suggested adding the free rice or a side.
- Three posts went alone, three with family, one with a partner; none went with friends.
- Eleven posts list 11:00–21:00 daily and nine a 20:30 last order, mostly in boilerplate info blocks. One says it never closes, one that there is no afternoon break; the 15:00–17:00 break belongs to the Gangnam and Hwagok branches.
- Prices hold steady at 12,900 won for ungkal and yeolkal from June to October; one July post wrote 12,000 won. The one full bill we saw was 30,300 won for two bowls and two dumplings.
- Five posts give the same phone number, 0507-1394-2307. One says reservations go through CatchTable; no one says whether phone bookings are taken.
- The cold Pyongan-style naengkal is a summer special: absent from June posts, present from August into September. We don't know if it's still offered.
- The seven uncounted posts are multi-restaurant roundups, two of them the same text posted twice by one author. 'Kimchi made fresh daily' is what staff said, so we don't count it.
