Cafe

SeongSuYul

성수율 Seongsuyul Seongsu is the neighbourhood's name; the house's own tagline is "Find Your 'YUL'", but none of the posts says what yul stands for.

Compiled from 16 blog posts read in fullSources →

A large café on the first two floors of a red-brick building at Seongsui-ro 16-gil 31, about a ten-minute walk from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station. You order at the counter at the back of the ground floor and sit downstairs, upstairs or on the outdoor terrace. Posts list an americano at 6,000 won, the butter-cream Yul einspänner at 8,000 won and the fruit-and-chocolate 'wakppu' salt bread at 8,500 won. Floors 3 and 4 are Seongsuyul Music, a separately ticketed listening room, with a rooftop above. We read 30 posts published between 17 August and 5 October 2026; 16 describe a visit to the café (visits from January to September 2026). Two were about other businesses and were set aside; twelve covered only events in the listening room or merely compiled information, and are not counted.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six posts call it spacious, pointing to the gaps between tables and the number of seats; five mention the high ceilings. It still fills up: one post found the ground floor full and went upstairs, another said the only seats left looked uncomfortable and took one by the entrance.
  2. Seven posts discuss prices and four call them high — 'wicked', one said; another was stunned by a 16,000-won Dubai croissant; a third guessed the listening room explains the coffee prices. From the visiting posts, a drink runs 6,000–8,000 won and a pastry 4,200–16,000 won.
  3. Four posts had the Yul einspänner, and six describe what they ate or drank as sweet. The einspänner comes with a meringue-like topping and a butter cream thicker than the usual; one post liked it but was not sure it was worth the price.
  4. One post came with a baby. On a weekday the second floor was empty, so they drew the curtain around a sofa corner and nursed there; the same post notes there is no nursing room as such.

  1. Two posts describe the toilets, and both found them cramped. A June visitor reports a women's toilet on the ground floor and separate men's and women's on the second, the latter on the small side; a February visitor found few stalls but kept clean.
  2. Four posts found it quiet; two say they went on a weekday — one had the second floor nearly to themselves, another found it calm enough to work on a laptop.

Three posts mention a lift, one noting you need not climb the stairs. Five sat on the second floor, and five describe entering at street level — there is no basement to go down to. One post adds that a floor plan by the entrance shows where the toilets are.

Nobody says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether they came in with a wheelchair or pushchair. The family visit only notes an automatic door. A claim of level access appears only in a compiled post by someone who did not visit, so we do not count it.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 12 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Split three to two. Three posts went up to the rooftop, and a June post says it opens only Friday to Sunday; a weekday visitor found it closed, and a September post found the stairs blocked from the fourth floor.
  • The menu has changed. A February visitor ate a Dubai croissant and later noted the wakppu salt bread had arrived; it is in the case from June onward. An August post says many of the earlier desserts were gone, replaced by new ones. We do not know whether the Dubai cookie or the Dubai croissant are still sold.
  • Opening hours: all eight visiting posts that give them say 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven with last orders at 7:30 p.m. — but every one copied them from an info box, and one labels them 'weekdays' with no closing day. The listening room upstairs keeps its own hours: noon opening in June, 5 p.m. by September.
  • No post mentions waiting. One found the ground floor full, another saw a quiet weekday fill up quickly. That is not proof there is never a wait — only that nobody wrote about one.
  • A June visitor reports a 10% discount for posting a Naver or Google review. No later post mentions it, so we do not know whether it still runs.
  • Several posts list the phone number, 070-4651-6124, but none says it booked a table or called. The only mention of reservations comes from a copied info box.
  • Of the twelve posts we did not count, five follow the same template — repeating 'as currently confirmed' while copying hours, prices and parking, with no sign of a visit. The other seven attended or promoted listening sessions and concerts on floors 3 and 4, not the café.
