Japanese

Sato Gyukatsu Seongsu Jikyeongjeom

사토규카츠 성수직영점 Sato reads as a common Japanese surname and gyukatsu is the Japanese breaded, deep-fried beef cutlet; jikyeongjeom means a company-run branch — the chain also runs branches in Konkuk University area and Hongdae.

Compiled from 17 blog posts read in fullSources →

A gyukatsu restaurant on the second floor of a building in the Yeonmujang-gil back lanes, 3–5 minutes' walk from Seongsu Station exit 4. The beef comes rare with a fried crust and you finish it piece by piece on a small tabletop grill; the signature set is most often listed at 17,500 won and comes with rice, cabbage salad, a small cold soba and an onsen egg. It is the Seongsu outlet of a small chain that also has Konkuk and Hongdae branches. We read 30 posts dated 8 Aug to 5 Oct 2026: five were about other places and set aside, seven were write-ups or lists without a visit, and 18 describe a meal here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six posts mention a queue: 25 groups ahead on 5 Sep, about 10 minutes on a weekday at 3:30 pm, two groups at lunch that cleared quickly. Three others walked straight in (weekday 11:40, Saturday noon, weekday 6:30 pm) but saw the room fill up right after. The queue runs through CatchTable; two posts describe the machine and iced water at the top of the stairs, and one says there is nowhere to wait.
  2. Twelve posts call the crust crisp; some note it is thin enough to taste the beef, and that the rare centre turns juicy on the grill. One post says two diners shared one grill and that staff do not cook for you.
  3. Five posts order and pay on a tablet or kiosk at the table. Two say every diner must order a set, and two refilled the cabbage salad.
  4. Four posts mention a Naver receipt-review offer: write a review and get two potato croquettes or a drink. One was told the croquettes come first and you show the review on the way out.
2 more
  1. Six posts praise the staff — loud greetings at the door, and grill plates swapped before you ask. Several also note aprons, hair ties, fabric spray and sweets set out by the entrance.
  2. One writer went alone and was seated at the bar, with a single-person grill at each place; another notes the bar faces the open kitchen. Three posts went with friends and three with a partner.

Getting inside

Second floor11 of 17 posts

Eleven posts say the restaurant is upstairs on the second floor, and four of them single out the stairs as steep. One warns families with children or heavy bags to take care, and another nearly walked into the ground-floor restaurant by mistake.

No post mentions a basement; eleven say second floor, and none says they took a lift.

No one describes getting in with a wheelchair or stroller; four posts climbed steep stairs. One compiled, no-visit post claims a lift and step-free access, which we did not count.

No post about this branch mentions the toilet — that means nobody wrote about it, not that there isn't one (the toilet notes we saw were about the Hongdae branch).

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-012 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Four posts give 3–5 minutes on foot from Seongsu Station exit 4 and suggest following a map down the narrow lane; nobody mentions a bus.
  • Eleven posts give opening hours, all copied from listings: ten say daily 11:00–21:30 with last order 20:30, one from 12 Aug says opening at 11:30. None mentions a closing day.
  • For the signature set, eight visit posts say 17,500 won, one from 12 Aug says 17,900 and one from 3 Oct says 17,000; since 17,500 appears both before and after, we don't read this as a price change. One writer was shocked by the price, another felt the set justified it.
  • Posts disagree on the kimchi nabe spice scale: one says levels 1–5, another 1–3.
  • Six posts list the phone number 0507-1358-4055. 'Reservations available' appears only in copied info; nobody describes booking ahead — what posts actually used was CatchTable's remote queue.
