Raw fish

Saengseon Jeongyukjeom

생선정육점 Saengseon jeongyukjeom means 'fish butcher shop' — like a meat butcher, it dry-ages fish and sells it by the gram.

Compiled from 12 blog posts read in fullSources →

A dry-aged fish shop in an alley off Achasan-ro 9-gil, north of Seongsu Station, selling sashimi by the gram like a butcher. You pick from the day's fish on the wall board, it is cut and weighed in front of you, and you either take it home vacuum-packed or eat in the self-service room next door, buying drinks, rice and cup noodles separately. Per 100 g: mullet 8,900 won, sea bass 12,900 won, bluefin belly 13,900 won. We read 23 posts from 5 January to 2 October 2026; 9 were the shop's own blog and were not counted. 12 describe a visit.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. You watch your fish being cut. Four posts describe watching the owner at work: the fish comes out of the ageing cabinet, is sliced on the spot and weighed.
  2. Many people take it away: seven posts did. Three say orders over 30,000 won come in an insulated bag; one says the torched Spanish mackerel had to be vacuum-packed.
  3. You eat in the building next door; eight posts mention seats there. It is self-service with a microwave, air fryer and sink, and you set up and clear up yourself. One July 2026 post complained there were no plates, only paper cups, water had to be bought and guests sort their own recycling; an April post liked the same arrangement because using the room is free.
  4. Opinions on price split one to two. The post calling it expensive paid 39,700 won for 100 g each of tuna belly and flatfish plus rice, seaweed, soju and noodles, and bought ice at a convenience store for 2,700 won. The two calling it reasonable paid about 30,000 won and under 40,000 won for mixed fish (one of them was sponsored).

The most ordered dish is gwangeo (광어) — 4 of 12 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Three posts walked from exit 2 of Seongsu Station and gave 3, 5 and 5 minutes; the shop's own blog says 10 minutes.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 12 posts

No post describes the floor or any stairs; only the address says ground floor. That means nobody wrote about it, not that it is step-free.

Nobody wrote about a step at the door or wheelchair or pushchair access.

Two posts say the toilet is inside the eating room. Nobody said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 11 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post mentions queuing. One says the fish took about 7 minutes after ordering; another went early and found it empty. We do not know about busy times.
  • Few posts say who they went with: two went alone, one with a friend. Many recommend it as a date spot without saying who they actually went with.
  • Opening hours changed over time and still disagree. February–March 2026 posts give a 20:00 close (15:00 on some days), April posts 22:00 on some days, and posts from July on 11:00–22:00 daily. Every post up to April lists Sundays as closed; the shop's September blog says no regular closing day, while a 2 October post again lists Sundays closed. Only two posts mention a 15:00–16:00 break. All of this is copied info, so check before going.
  • Prices follow the day's catch: one post says the board is at market price and another that it seems to change daily. The per-100 g figures above come from February–April 2026 posts.
  • The phone number 0507-1365-4082 was copied by four posts. Booking or pre-ordering through Naver or KakaoTalk is mostly copied info; one post saw it offered in the shop.
  • The address appears as both 30-9 and 30-11 Achasan-ro 9-gil because the shop and the eating room are two adjoining buildings, not because it moved.
  • Many posts were not counted. Nine are the shop's own blog posts. Three posts from July–October 2026 share the same wording and info block and name no prices or dishes, so we treated them as promotional and counted very little from them. One post ate a courier delivery at home and one is a single entry in a list; neither counts as a visit.
