Saenggang Gimbap
생강김밥 Saenggang means ginger — the rice is seasoned with a ginger syrup, so you smell ginger but never bite into a piece of it.

A gimbap shop on the corner of Achasan-ro, right outside Exit 1 of Seongsu Station. The basic ginger roll — rice seasoned with ginger syrup — was 4,000 won in 2025 posts; tuna, cheese, kimchi, tofu-pocket and yuja rolls were 4,800, dried-squid 5,000 and octopus 5,100, with a fish-cake cup and plum jjolmyeon on the side. You order at a kiosk by the door and collect your own food; it is mostly a takeout shop, and people who stay eat alone at bar counters along the window. We read 23 posts from 25 June 2025 to 2 October 2026; 2 turned out to be about other places, leaving 21 visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You order at the kiosk by the door. Ten posts ordered that way; one noted there are two kiosks so the line moves fast. Two posts said you collect your food when your number is called and return the dishes yourself, and one complained there is no tray for carrying a ramyeon bowl and a roll.
- Food comes fast. Five posts said so and none said it was slow; one jjolmyeon-set order got the roll first, with the noodles following right after.
- Whether rolls are made to order is disputed. Three posts saw them rolled right after ordering; one January 2026 post felt the roll had been pre-wrapped and the rice texture suffered. Two posts were handed takeout-wrapped rolls even though they were eating in. The shop's own 'never pre-rolled' sign is the shop's claim, so we did not count it.
- Seating is at bar counters. Seven posts said it is counter seating only, and four said you sit facing the window. Four called the room cramped; one found the stools high and backless. The seat count varies by post — 'about four' on a July 2025 visit, 'about ten' by the window in October, 'about fourteen' in June 2026. No post mentioned a table where a group could sit together.

- It is close to the station. Six posts walked from Seongsu Station Exit 1 — 'three minutes', 'right by the crossing' — and one took the subway because parking in the area is hard.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
6 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
No post described the floor from experience. The address says ground floor and several posts said you see it straight from the street corner, but nobody mentioned stairs or levels.
Nobody wrote about a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that it is fine. One post noted the stools are high and backless.
No post said whether there is a toilet inside or whether it is separated by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Prices have gone up. 2025 posts had the ginger roll at 4,000 won and the fish-cake cup at 2,500; one June 2026 post had them at 4,500 and 2,900. Only that one post shows the new prices, so we don't know what the other rolls cost now. Four posts called the prices fair and none called them high — all before the increase. No post priced the ramyeon or tteokbokki sets added in 2026.
- Opening hours have changed twice. Six posts from October–November 2025 gave 9:30–19:30 (last order 19:15 or 19:20), two from January and March 2026 gave 10:00–20:30, and two from June and September 2026 gave 7:00 or 7:30 to 21:30. Most are copied listings; a May 2026 post ate here before 9 a.m., which fits the earlier opening. No post mentioned a closing day.
- Spiciness is split: two posts found it hot (the octopus roll, and a roll-ramyeon-tteokbokki meal), while one found the dried-squid roll mild despite the menu's spicy mark. They ordered different things.
- No post described queuing. One arrived at 9:35 a.m. and was the first customer. Several said customers kept coming in, but nobody recorded how long the lunchtime wait is.
- Four posts went alone and one stopped in with a spouse and child during a day out by car. Nobody came with friends or a group, so we can't say how a group would fare.
- Six posts gave the same phone number, 02-497-1997. Nobody said whether reservations are taken.
