OUDE BAKERY

오우드 성수2호점 Oudeu Seongsu 2-hojeom OUDE is the spelling on the sign (as a word, Dutch for 'old'); none of the posts explains why the bakery chose it.

Compiled from 12 blog posts read in fullSources →

OUDE's second Seongsu shop is a bakery café on the second floor of 36 Seongsuiro 24-gil, north of Seongsu station. The ground floor is a clothing and merchandise shop, and you climb stairs to reach the café. You pick berliners (German filled doughnuts), salt-butter rolls, baguettes and baked sweets from the counter to eat with coffee or take away. Prices in August-September 2026 posts: salt roll 4,000 won, berliners 4,200-5,500 won, americano 5,000 won, latte 5,500 won. Nine visit posts give the same hours, 8am-9pm on weekdays and 9am-9pm at weekends, and five of them give last orders at 8:30pm. We read 30 posts dated 13 March to 5 October 2026. Twelve describe actually eating here. Four were about other places and were set aside. Fourteen were multi-shop lists, copied information, a delivery review or a one-line check-in, and were not counted.

Rows without a count: 9 of 9 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Space is what comes up most. Nine of the twelve visit posts call it large, and most point at the gaps between tables rather than just size: plenty of seats spaced well apart, tables not jammed together, lots of group tables. One post found the big room almost full at a weekday lunch; another arrived at weekday opening and had it nearly to itself.
  2. There is outdoor seating: four visit posts mention the terrace. A regular says it is a good place to chat when the weather is cool and that pets are allowed out there. Two other posts repeat that pets are terrace-only, but both copied it from the shop's notice, so we did not count them.
  3. Three posts are by regulars: one has been more than twenty times, one three or four times, one went often because their office was nearby. Two of them say it is walkable from Seongsu station, one putting it at about ten minutes.

Getting inside

The café is upstairs. Eight visit posts say you take the stairs to the second floor to reach it. The ground floor gets a different name in almost every post: a clothes and bags showroom, a select shop, OUDE merchandise, a YOUTH store. One post describes two ways up, either the inside stairs through the ground-floor shop or an outside staircase beside the terrace seats.

We don't know whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in. The café is on the second floor and posts only mention stairs; nobody mentions a lift or ramp. One post notes a 'mind the step' sticker inside. One post says in its own words that the shop is no-kids, citing stairs and other hazards inside. This means nobody wrote about it, not that there is no access.

Two visit posts say the toilets are separate for men and women. One adds that they are inside the café, so you don't have to step outside, and that there are several stalls; the other says they were clean.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 14 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-08-292 posts in one day
2026-03-162 posts in one day
2026-03-152 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waiting depends on when people went. A March 2026 post, at the height of the butter-tteok craze, arrived at 9:20 on a Saturday morning, found a queue already formed, and the batch sold out with the person behind them. An August post walked straight in at 2pm on a weekend. That is one post each way, so we don't know whether weekend mornings still queue now. Another post arriving at 7pm on a Sunday found some breads already sold out.
  • Opinions on sweetness split. One post found the chocolate and cinnamon berliners far too sweet; another found the plain one light rather than sweet and greasy. Three more said it varied by flavour, for example blueberry a little sweet and custard a little less so.
  • Posts rarely say who they came with. One came with a boyfriend while shopping in Seongsu; none mention friends, family or a group. Lines like 'seems fine for a group' or 'looks good for working alone on a laptop' are guesses, so we didn't count them.
  • Nobody says whether you can book. Four posts give the phone number as 0507-1454-2050; one list post copied 070-8840-2436, and we could not confirm which number is current.
  • Butter-tteok prices differ: two March 2026 posts paid 2,000 won each, a May post ordering through Coupang Eats paid 3,000 won. Delivery apps often charge more than the counter, so we can't tell whether the price rose. Nobody mentions a closing day; the posted hours read the same all year, but we don't know about holiday or temporary closures.
