Japanese

Okacheu

오카츠 Katsu is the Japanese breaded cutlet; one post relays that the 'O' is the Korean word for five, after the five-day aging of the pork.

A Japanese-style tonkatsu shop up a flight of stairs in an alley off Yeonmujang-gil, near exit 4 of Seongsu Station. Loin katsu is 15,000 won, tenderloin 16,000, the mixed plate and premium loin 18,000, served on one tray with rice, a spicy miso soup, two kimchis and shredded cabbage. Many diners worked through the table card's suggested ways to eat it with pink salt, rosemary oil and fresh pepper. We read 30 posts from June 25 to September 28, 2026; one was about the Bangbae branch and was set aside, and 26 describe an actual visit. One post had eaten here two years earlier at a different location, so the shop has moved.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You order and pay at the kiosk outside the door before going in, as 19 posts describe. One post saw diners walk in, then step back out to order; another advises checking for a free seat first. One notes you collect your own tray at the bar when your number is called.
  2. There is bar seating facing the kitchen plus tables for two to four. Twenty posts describe the seating, several saying the bar makes it easy to eat alone, and 13 watched the frying in the open kitchen. Four posts found it roomy, two found it cramped, one calling the eating space tight.
  3. Fourteen posts call the crust crisp, eight say the meat is thick, eight mention juiciness, and two say there was no porky smell. Four found the premium loin or mixed plate more than filling.
  4. Four posts note cold barley tea is served in place of water, and five mention a shelf or rack by the wall for bags and coats.

Getting inside

Second floor1 of 25 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read)
Step at the entrance5 of 25 posts
Toilet inside2 of 25 posts

Posts disagree on the floor. The address says ground floor, but one post says second floor, another says 'up to a second floor that isn't quite a second floor', and one mentions window tables 'on the second floor'. It looks like a half-level up, but we couldn't confirm.

Getting in means climbing stairs. Five posts mention a staircase or a half-flight up, with the kiosk at the top by the door.

No post mentions getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Five mention stairs, and none mentions a ramp or lift. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is none.

Two posts say the toilet is inside, one calling it small but clean. Nobody said whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waits vary. One post waited behind a single party around 12:30 at lunch; two had no wait, at 2 pm on a weekend and in the evening. Another found every table full at noon on a weekend and took a bar seat. Guesses that there 'might be a wait' weren't counted. One post found the tenderloin sold out on a weekday evening, and another saw several items sold out right after the afternoon break.
  • Two posts say the cutlets are fried to order and took about 15 minutes; another logged ordering at 6:35 pm and eating at 6:50. One post found food came quickly even at the lunch peak.
  • Four posts put it a 2-5 minute walk from exit 4 of Seongsu Station. One nearly got lost; another says it is in the alley to the left of the I'm Donut building.
  • Company varied: five posts went as a couple, three with friends, two alone, two with family (one with a child), and one in a group of three.
  • Sixteen posts list 11:00-21:00 and one lists 11:00-20:40, all copied from info blocks. The afternoon break is disputed: one lists 16:00-17:00 and two say there is none, while one diner actually arrived 'right after the break ended'. Check before going.
  • Prices held steady from July to September: 15,000 won for loin, 16,000 for tenderloin, so a meal runs 15,000-18,000 won, or over 20,000 with curry (5,000) or a drink (3,000). One post found it a bit pricey. Posts disagree on the chicken katsu and curry set, listing 14,000 or 15,000 won.
  • Nine posts give the phone number as 0507-1432-7118 and two give 070-4379-2758. 'Reservations available' appears only in copied info blocks; no post says they booked.
  • The shop has moved. A September 2026 post says the place it ate at two years earlier has since relocated to this alley, and that the food tastes the same. Nobody gave the old address or the date of the move.
  • Some posts are promotional. Two disclose sponsorship. Six others repeat the same lines in the same order ('chefs who studied tonkatsu in Japan and Seoul', 'aged five days at low temperature'), and one copies sentences word for word from a sponsored post. We treat the five-day aging and 'top 0.3% YBD pork' as the shop's own claims, not evidence. One review also appears on two different blogs.
