Namyeongdon Seongsu

남영돈 성수점 The original Namyeongdon sits near Namyeong Station in Yongsan and 'don' is pork; two posts pass on the house's own reading of the name, 'pork that fills the mouth'.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

A charcoal pork grill tucked behind ETF Bakery at Seongsu-i-ro 16-gil 32, reached through a small garden; it is the Seongsu branch of the Namyeong-dong original in Yongsan, and three posts note it took over the old Saladaeng Temple space. The draws are pork cap (KRW 22,000 per 180 g) and jowl (25,000 per 180 g); belly and neck are 20,000 per 200 g, and pairs mostly order the two-person set of cap, jowl and a stew for 55,000. We read 30 posts from 9 August to 5 October 2026, set aside 7 about the Yongsan original, the Taipei branch or the bakery next door, and counted from the 22 that visited this shop.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff grill the meat for you from start to finish; 15 of the 22 visiting posts say so. One diner, writing twice about the same visit, saw staff rub ice cubes on the grill to tame the charcoal, and several were handed the first piece with a tip to try it with salt. One post says spent charcoal is swapped out whole; another says that by the time extra orders came the fire had weakened, the swap was slow, and the belly came out tough.
  2. Waits swing widely: 5 posts waited and 7 walked straight in. Recorded waits were 5, 30 and 30 minutes; one post found 23 groups ahead at 7 pm on a weekday and waited nearly two hours, and one arrived before 11 am to find one group already ahead. The walk-ins came at weekday noon, 3–4 pm, straight after a 5 pm finish, and on a rainy Chuseok. Two posts say you join the CatchTable queue and must show up within five minutes of the alert; most say remote queuing works, but one post from 27 September found it unavailable and registered at the door.
  3. There is somewhere to wait: two posts describe benches facing the pond and a roomy area with chairs and tables, and several suggest killing time with coffee or bread at ETF Bakery next door.
  4. Nine posts mention the high ceiling and five call the room spacious; one notes large windows and another the doors left open. But one post found the hall echoey and quite loud, and an August post says the big room stayed a little warm even with the air-conditioning on. Two were startled by the heat of the charcoal kiln by the entrance, and one sitting by the aisle felt the grill's heat strongly.

  1. One post brought its own wine and had it chilled for them; the 'one bottle corkage-free' rule is otherwise copied from notices or CatchTable by three posts. One post lists house wines such as Château Mont-Pérat at KRW 35,000 and Dom Pérignon at 350,000.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 21 posts

Only one visiting post speaks to parking from experience: there is no lot of its own, and they used a nearby paid car park. Four other posts copy 'no parking' from an info block.

Getting inside

No post describes the floor level from experience; '1st floor' appears only in the address, and nobody mentions stairs.

Nobody mentions a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair; that means no one wrote about it, not that there is none. One post says the garden path in is overgrown and awkward to walk, and crosses a small bridge.

No post says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant or whether it is split by gender; one notes mouthwash and disposable floss in the restroom.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 22 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Three posts call it expensive and one says it was cheaper than expected. Two posts give a total for the meal, both about KRW 100,000 (two diners with set and extra meat; another with three portions, cold noodles and draft beer). Pork cap is listed at 24,000 in one August post and 22,000 in one September post; two posts are not enough to say whether the price changed.
  • Four posts put it a 10 to 12 minute walk (about 700 m) from Seongsu Station exit 3. Several warn the entrance runs through the ETF Bakery building and looks like the wrong way.
  • Of those who said who they went with, 5 went with family, 3 with friends, 2 with a partner and 2 as a work group; one post suggests the room suits family meals and office dinners.
  • Eight posts give opening hours as daily 11:30 to 23:00, three of them with last orders at 22:00. One post each gives 11:30–23:30 and 12:00–22:00, both copied from info blocks. No post mentions a closing day, and one warns that private bookings can change the hours.
  • Four posts give the phone number as 070-7605-9876 and one gives 02-468-9292. No post mentions taking reservations; all describe the CatchTable queue instead.
  • Two writers each wrote about the same visit twice (a review and a diary entry), and we counted each post separately, so the figures above include that overlap. A claim that footballer Lee Kang-in has eaten here is hearsay and not counted.
