Meongteongguri Kkomjangeo Makchang Seongsu Jigyeongjeom
멍텅구리꼼장어막창 성수직영점 Meongteongguri is a playful Korean word for a blockhead; kkomjangeo is hagfish and makchang is grilled pork intestine, and jigyeongjeom marks a branch run directly by the original shop in Samseong-dong.

A charcoal grill house for hagfish and pork intestine on Achasan-ro 7-gil, a short walk from Seongsu Station exit 1 — set back inside a building rather than on the street. Posts describe it as a directly run branch of an older shop on Bongeunsa-ro in Samseong-dong. On the July 2026 menu, wild 'king' hagfish (200 g) is 23,000 won; marinated or salt-grilled hagfish (180 g) and beef rib finger meat are 17,000; intestine, octopus-and-pork and hagfish-and-pork plates are 16,000. Most meat arrives pre-grilled and you finish it over the charcoal at your table. Steamed egg in an earthenware pot comes free, and many finish with kimchi noodles (9,000), doenjang rice soup (7,000) or rice balls (4,000). It opens at 4 pm and is mostly an evening drinking and group-dinner spot. We read 30 posts from April to September 2026; 26 describe a visit here. The other four were about the Samseong-dong original or other shops, and we left them out.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Fourteen posts say the meat came out already part-grilled — hagfish, intestine, rib meat and pork belly arrive cooked once and get a short finish over the table fire. Staff told one writer it could be eaten straight away. Several warn that hagfish left over the center of the fire burns fast, so move it to the edge.
- Twelve posts call the room large. What writers actually saw: mostly four-seat tables, all square so they can be pushed together, and an open hall one writer guessed would hold twelve or thirteen parties. Figures like '50 pyeong' or '75 seats' also appear, but they are copied from the shop's listing, so we don't rely on them. No one mentions private rooms or floor seating.
- Nine posts walked from Seongsu Station exit 1; the times given are 2, 4 and 5 minutes. Turn right at the Olive Young / pharmacy corner, or take the first alley on the right, and it is on the left. Because the restaurant sits inside a building and can't be seen from the street, one writer advises looking for the red sign outside first.
- One post, from April 2026, records an ordering rule: the first order must be at least two portions of a single dish, so the writers switched from one salt and one marinated hagfish to two marinated. No other post mentions it, so we can't say whether it still applies.

Two posts actually drove. Park in the lot behind the building, take a ticket, and get it stamped at the restaurant for two free hours; one writer adds that there is mechanical parking too and that a lost ticket can't be reissued. Many other posts repeat the two-hour offer, and one gives room for 20 cars, but these are copied from the listing.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
Nine posts walked from Seongsu Station exit 1; the times given are 2, 4 and 5 minutes. Turn right at the Olive Young / pharmacy corner, or take the first alley on the right, and it is on the left. Because the restaurant sits inside a building and can't be seen from the street, one writer advises looking for the red sign outside first.
Getting inside
No one describes the floor from experience. The address says ground floor, and posts say it is inside a building, straight ahead as you enter. Nobody mentions stairs — but that means no one wrote about it, not that there are none.
No post mentions an entrance step, getting in with a wheelchair or stroller, or a lift. We don't know.
No one describes the toilets from a visit. Even the copied listings disagree — one says separate men's and women's toilets outside, another says inside the building. We don't know whether they are inside the restaurant.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Prices seem to have gone up once. An April 2026 post paid 32,000 won for two portions of marinated hagfish (16,000 each); July posts list 17,000 a portion (34,000 for two). The April figure comes from a single post. On value, one writer felt the 23,000-won king hagfish was small for the price and two said prices were fair. The one full bill we have — two portions of marinated hagfish, chicken feet, soju, beer and rice — came to 61,000 won.
- No post describes queuing. One writer arrived at 6 pm on a weekday to empty tables; another, who had booked, remarked that without a booking you'd surely wait. Two posts booked ahead. Two noted slow food — about 10 to 15 minutes for the first plate, and 'takes a while after ordering'.
- Noise is split: three posts call it loud and lively, one found it not noisy even when full. One loud evening coincided with large group dinners.
- Three posts went with friends and two drove; a partner, a mother and a big reunion group each appear in just one post. No one brought children, so we can't say how it suits kids.
- All the opening hours are copied from listings. Most say Monday to Saturday 4 pm to 11:30 pm, closed Sundays; one says closing is 11 pm. Nine look-alike posts all repeat the same self-contradictory line, 'daily 16:00–23:30 / closed every Sunday'. No one gives a break time or last order.
- Most posts list the phone number 0507-1380-1446; one gives 02-497-1193. Copied listings say you can book through Naver or by phone.
- Two batches of posts look written to a template. Nine went up two a day between 6 and 20 July 2026, with generic titles and an identical info block at the end. Another set from 14 to 24 July repeats the same talking points in nearly the same order: 13 years in Samseong-dong, run by head office, foreign customers, celebrities, young crowds, work dinners. None discloses sponsorship, and only one title claims the writer paid. Most mentions of seeing foreign customers or celebrity autographs come from these batches, so we give them less weight.
- Posts disagree on the fire: a gas-fired charcoal grill, charcoal on top of an adjustable gas burner, real charcoal rather than gas, and briquettes. We can't say which it is.
