KOTACO

코타코 Kotako KOTACO is short for 'Korea taco' — the house sells what it calls a K-sushi taco, with a fried laver (gim-bugak) shell in place of a tortilla.

A gim-bugak taco counter on the ground floor of the SK V1 Tower on Yeonmujang 5ga-gil, near exit 3 of Seongsu Station. Instead of a tortilla the shell is fried laver, filled with sushi rice, vegetables and toppings such as salmon, eel, beef tartare with sea urchin, or bulgogi. Tacos run 5,400 won (sausage, fire chicken) to 9,400 won (yukhoe-uni); a set with a drink and a side is 9,900 won for the beef chili. You order at a kiosk by the door, collect when your number comes up, and eat with your hands. We read 30 posts dated 2 September to 1 October 2026; 17 describe an actual visit, 9 are the shop's own blog, and 4 turned out to be about other places. One post says the shop opened in July, so everything we have is from its first two or three months.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. There is a hand-washing sink inside the shop — six posts mention it, one noting you don't have to go to the restroom, another that it fits even in the small room. Several describe a self-serve bar with disposable gloves, wet wipes, hot sauce and ketchup; one couple only found the gloves after getting oil all over their hands.
  2. Ordering is by kiosk, as nine posts say. Two mention one kiosk outside and one inside; one of them saw people queueing at the outdoor kiosk without realising there was another indoors.
  3. Eleven posts call the laver shell crisp — and the same crispness makes the tacos hard to bite cleanly. Writers say it is 'too crunchy', that you end up wolfing it, or that they pressed the top down first; one warned it is not a tidy first-date food.
  4. Writing a review gets you a free coleslaw, according to seven posts. One writer got pico de gallo instead on a day the slaw had run out; another got a random discount of up to 1,000 won for paying with KakaoPay.

  1. There is seating, as ten posts say — mostly bar seats for solo diners plus tables for two to four. Three describe a narrow front passage opening onto a larger room at the back; one counts about 25 seats, another about 20. Three call the shop small.

Where it is

Map showing where KOTACO is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

5 posts say it is walkable from the station.

Getting inside

Floor level: the address says ground floor, unit 111, but no visitor described it.

Nobody mentioned a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means unreported, not absent. One post did describe the entrance as a long, corridor-like passage.

We know nothing about the restroom — where it is or whether it is split by gender. One post only said the in-shop sink saves a trip to it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 9 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-09-162 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • On portions, one post said a single taco is not enough for an adult and suggested two each; two others said it looked small but two filled them up, or that adding one more is cheap. Nobody said one taco makes a meal.
  • Waits vary. Two posts walked straight in (a weekday lunch, a late evening), one waited briefly on a Saturday lunchtime, and one found a crowd by the door at lunch. No one gave a time. One post mentions waiting seats outside.
  • Five posts describe the walk themselves: one to four minutes from exit 3 of Seongsu Station. The repeated '224 m / 3 minutes' figure is copied from the listing and not counted. No one mentioned buses.
  • Company: three posts went as a couple, two with friends, one alone, two with colleagues. More titles say 'date' for search, but we only counted what the text says.
  • Opening hours: 13 posts agree on 10:30 to 21:00 daily with no break, mostly copied from the listing; one writer read it off the door notice. One post also has a stray '13:00–23:00, closes when sold out' line. The shop's blog announced a two-day Chuseok closure on 24–25 September 2026.
  • Prices agree across the September 2026 posts. Recorded bills: 19,800 won for one person (two tacos, a side, a drink) and 25,200 won for two sets plus an extra taco. Three posts call it inexpensive; one found the yukhoe-uni a bit pricey.
  • No post says whether bookings are taken. More than eleven list the phone number as 02-2641-0430. Takeaway and delivery appear in the info blocks; one writer actually took food home.
  • Several visit posts from 2–4 September 2026 share an identical hashtag line and repeat the shop's own copy (Namhae laver, Sindongjin rice) in the same order. None discloses sponsorship, but they may be a commissioned batch. We treat the rice and laver origin claims as the shop's marketing, not evidence.
