cocoroban

코코로반 Kokoroban Kokoroban is written 心飯 on the sign — kokoro means heart and ban means rice or a meal, which one post renders as 'rice made with heart'.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

Kokoroban is a Japanese home-style restaurant down an alley off Seongsui-ro 7ga-gil, a short walk from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station. The core of the menu is charcoal-grilled hamburg steak sets (15,000–23,000 won), alongside fresh-pork katsu, garlic curry, udon and soba sets. Each set comes with rice, three small side dishes and a mini udon or mini soba, and a self-service bar lets you top up rice and sides. The ground floor has the open kitchen and a counter along the wall; upstairs are tables for two and four. We read 30 posts dated 19 July to 4 October 2026, and 27 of them record an actual meal. Many say they went after seeing the place on the TV show Tasty Guys in August 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Fourteen posts mention watching the hamburg steaks grilled over charcoal behind glass right by the entrance — one describes flare-ups as part of the show. One diner seated upstairs notes they never got to see the grilling.
  2. Eleven posts say rice and side dishes can be refilled at a self-service bar. Posts list a rice cooker, cabbage salad, radish kimchi and pickled celery, plus aprons, cups and scissors. One diner ran short of rice because the steak was so big and went back for more.
  3. Waits vary. Four posts waited, four walked straight in, and one, at a full lunch, says they would have had to wait had they come a little later. The only times given are about five minutes on a Saturday, and a quoted 10–15 minutes that turned into a quick seat. Those who walked in went just after 1 pm on a weekday, 30 minutes early for Sunday lunch, at dinner, or outside peak hours. Five posts mention a sign-up sheet and chairs to wait on at the entrance.
  4. Ten posts ordered on a tablet or kiosk at the table; two of them note that you pay up front.
3 more
  1. Eleven posts call the hamburg steak thick and thirteen mention its juiciness. Fourteen describe crisp frying — the fried prawns, the combo katsu and the cheese katsu. Seven say the portions are large.
  2. Six posts walked from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station and put it at four to six minutes. The oft-quoted figure of 303 metres mostly comes from copied map listings.
  3. Company is evenly spread: six posts went with a partner or spouse, six with family (two of them with children), four with friends, and one alone.

Twenty posts describe the upstairs seating. Again and again the layout is the same: a counter along the wall on the ground floor, suited to eating alone, and tables for two and four upstairs. One diner was sent straight upstairs because the ground floor was full; another had staff move them from a small table to a four-seater when they ordered three dishes.

Nobody mentions a basement. Posts consistently describe a ground floor and an upper floor, and one diner sat at the ground-floor counter.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in — that is a gap in what was written, not a confirmed answer. The upstairs seating and the toilet are reached by stairs, and the one lift a post mentions is a dumbwaiter for sending food upstairs.

Five posts say the toilet is upstairs, reached by the stairs. One notes that it is unisex, and that it was clean.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts say the signature seafood hamburg set (23,000 won) is made in limited numbers each day, and three posts — 2, 12 and 15 September — found it sold out. Several advise arriving early if that is the dish you want.
  • All opening hours come from copied info blocks. Of the twenty visit posts that give them, sixteen say daily 11:00–21:20, three say closing at 21:00 and one at 21:30. All twenty agree on a 15:00–17:00 break, and fourteen give last orders at 20:30. No visit post mentions a closing day.
  • Prices agree across posts: hamburg steak sets 15,000–23,000 won, katsu sets 14,000–17,000, curry, udon and soba sets 12,000–16,000, sides 7,000–8,000, Kirin draught 8,000, and a mini curry add-on 2,000. The two posts listing the combo katsu at 17,500 had switched to tenderloin (500 won extra). A meal is one set at 12,000–23,000 won. One post hesitated because the seafood set costs more than the rest; another found the prices reasonable.
  • Most posts give the phone number 02-466-9958; one gives 0507-1455-2026. Reservations are unclear: one info block says none are taken, another says there is no Naver booking but you can call, and a third says to call for bookings and enquiries. No post went with a reservation.
  • Two posts went with children; in one, the kids preferred the side udon to the hamburg steak. Nobody says whether high chairs are available.
  • Four posts disclose sponsorship (19 July; 11, 15 and 18 September). Four posts end with the same 24 hashtags in the same order, one of them sponsored, and the 19 July sponsored post still contains unedited template notes such as 'check how many minutes' walk'. We still counted these posts, because they record what was ordered and what it cost.
