Cafe

Kape Cheonsujang

카페 천수장 Cheonsujang was the name of the old yeogwan (inn) the café now occupies; -jang is the suffix such inns took, and the café kept the name and the inn's signboard.

Compiled from 5 blog posts read in fullSources →

A café in a side alley off Dullae 9-gil in Seongsu-dong, set in a former yeogwan (inn) called Cheonsujang. The building was left as it was and only the inside redone. Each old guest room is now a seating area, on both the ground and second floors. An americano was 3,800 won (March 2025) and a croissant sandwich 8,500 won (October 2024); there are also croffles, madeleines, ades and smoothies. We read 9 posts dated October 2024 to July 2026. Four were hashtag dumps about other neighbourhoods that only carried the tag "#보국훈장천수장", so we set them aside. The remaining five (October 2024 to May 2025) are all first-hand visits, and none disclosed sponsorship.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You sit in the old guest rooms. All five visit posts said the seating is split into separate rooms. One noted every seat is private because each room is its own space, another described a table made from an inn door still numbered 203, and a third kept seeing groups taking over a room to work.
  2. The two posts that commented on price both found it reasonable: one called the coffee cheap for its quality, the other said coffee prices were fair.
  3. One post walked from Seongsu Station exit 3 in about ten minutes at an easy pace. Another gives 1 km from the station and 100 m from the Seoul Forest police-box bus stop, but that was copied from a listing. One writer warns the café appears out of nowhere in an alley and says to follow the lane with the banner; the same post notes a short walk to a path down to the Han River.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Second floor4 of 5 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 5 posts read)

Four posts mention the second floor. One describes entering through the old inn doorway on the ground floor and climbing an inside staircase; another found the upstairs rooms even more hideaway-like. One post sat on the ground floor, and nobody mentioned a basement.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means no one wrote about it, not that there is no access. One post said the second floor is reached by an inside staircase, and none mentioned a lift.

No post said where the customer toilet is or whether it is split by gender. One post noticed what looked like old en-suite bathrooms in the rooms, but they were locked.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No post mentioned waiting for a seat. One October 2024 visit found the desserts almost sold out and wished they had come earlier.
  • Only one post said who they went with: a husband-and-wife date. Remarks about suiting solo workers or groups described other customers, so we did not count them.
  • Opening hours appear in four posts, all copied from listings. Two October 2024 posts give 11:00-20:00 on weekdays and 12:00-20:00 at weekends; a March 2025 post gives 11:00-20:00 with no split by day. Three posts agree on last orders at 19:50. Nobody listed a closing day.
  • Prices come only from October 2024 and March 2025 posts, and the last visit we read is from May 2025, so we do not know current prices. One post's meal was an 8,500-won croissant sandwich plus drinks of around 5,000 won.
  • The phone number 0507-1418-8355 was copied from listings in two posts. Nobody said whether reservations are taken.
