Jungang Gamsokgi
중앙감속기 Jungang Gamsokgi means 'Central Speed Reducer' — the name of the reduction-gear factory that used to run in the building, which the restaurant kept as its own.

Jungang Gamsokgi is a Chinese-Italian restaurant on a side street off Seongsuil-ro 6-gil in Seongsu-dong, known as one of chef Choi Hyun-seok's places — think guobaorou dressed in balsamic, or mapo tofu made with Bolognese. The most-ordered dishes are balsamic guobaorou (24,000 won), basil shrimp spring rolls (15,900 won) and brisket mala-cream jjamppong (19,500 won). You order from a tablet at the table, and most people book ahead. Two posts paid 57,400 won for the two-person set A; one group of four paid 109,500 won and a group of three 82,900 won. We read 30 posts dated 1 August to 5 October 2026; 25 of them describe an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- This is a book-ahead place: 16 posts reserved through CatchTable or Naver. Several posts note a 30,000-won-per-person deposit, refunded when you show up and forfeited if you cancel within four days. Two posts said the door stays shut until the booked time, when staff open it and seat you.
- Walk-ins do happen. Of six posts that mentioned waiting, five didn't wait at all — including a weekday walk-in just before noon and a Sunday-evening table straight away. One arrived at 11:50 to find one or two groups ahead. Two weekday-lunch posts said it was nearly full by the time they left, and one post said they don't take walk-ins.
- Thirteen posts called the frying crisp — mostly the spring rolls, with their thin wrappers, and the guobaorou, crisp outside and chewy within.
- Six posts said you order from a tablet at your seat. One noted that staff took their order before opening but said food would start at noon.
1 more
- Five posts mention the open kitchen. One sat at the bar and watched the cooking up close; another said the cooking smell got into their clothes and suggested a seat farther from the kitchen. Several posts also mention a giant robot figure and a chandelier.

Parking
4 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

There's no restaurant parking. Four posts said so in their own words after driving or wishing they could. One paid about 1,000 won per 10 minutes — some 8,000 won in all — at the CU building next door; another used a parking app to find a lot. The 'no parking' lines elsewhere are copied info blocks.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 1 of 25 posts |
|---|
No one described which floor it's on from experience; the address says ground floor, but no post mentions steps up or down.
We don't know whether there's a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in — not because there's a problem, but because no one wrote about it. Only one post came with a child, an older primary-school boy.
Only one post mentioned the restroom: inside the restaurant, clean, though with few stalls. Separate men's and women's restrooms appear only in copied info blocks.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opinions on size differ: four posts called the room spacious (one also noted the high ceiling), while one said it isn't big but is tidy. Posts describe a long central table, two- to four-seat tables along the walls, and bar seats facing the kitchen.
- Two posts found dishes salty: the ragù pasta, and the vongole ulmyeon, which was also gritty with sand. Complaints that the jjamppong is salty appear only in reviews quoted secondhand by one post, so we didn't count them.
- Only one post spoke from experience about getting there, saying it's close to Seongsu station. The 5–6 minutes from Seongsu exit 4 and 4 minutes from Ttukseom exit 5 come from copied info blocks.
- Company is mixed: five posts went with friends, three as a couple, three in larger groups such as a work dinner or a party of six, and one with family. Three posts said the portions were generous.
- All 17 posts that list hours agree: noon to 9 pm, closed 3–5:30 pm, last orders 2:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Most of these are copied info blocks; only one post actually ran into the 2:30 pm cutoff. The only closing days mentioned — the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays and the day before each — were copied from CatchTable by one post.
- Views on value are split: three posts called the prices reasonable, one said they're a bit high, and one grumbled about 15,900 won for four spring rolls while still calling the menu fair overall. Set A went from 56,000 won on a June 2025 kiosk photo (copied secondhand) to 57,400 won in September–October 2026 posts.
- Several posts give the phone number as 0507-1316-9628. One post said that after booking, a confirmation call came from 02-466-9628 — an unfamiliar number they nearly ignored.
- Some posts didn't count. Five are Seongsu round-ups or posts about another restaurant, so we didn't treat them as visits. One post, apart from a line about eating set B a year earlier, compiles Naver reviews and CatchTable info, so we didn't rely on claims in it like a table time limit or gritty clams.
