Jugyeojuneun Dongchimi Guksu

죽여주는 동치미국수 Jugyeojuneun is Korean slang for 'to die for' (literally 'that kills you'), and dongchimi guksu is thin noodles in chilled radish water-kimchi broth.

Compiled from 18 blog posts read in fullSources →

A dongchimi-noodle and handmade-dumpling shop up a flight of stairs in an old building on a lane near Ttukdo Market in Seongsu. That it is run directly by the original Namyangju shop is the house's own claim. You eat slushy, ice-cold radish-kimchi noodles or perilla-sauce mixed noodles with juicy pork dumplings, fiery kimchi dumplings or boiled pork belly; two visitors ordered on a table tablet. The dongchimi noodles were 10,000 won in a May 19, 2026 post and 13,000 won from June 3 on. We read 30 posts from May 19 to October 2, 2026: 5 were about the Namyangju original or other places and set aside, 4 described no visit (one delivery, three listing-style write-ups), leaving 21 visits.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Twelve posts wrote about the juice inside the pork dumplings — one called it insane — and several warned it is hot enough to burn, telling readers to let them cool. Many said outright they preferred these to the kimchi dumplings.
  2. Eleven posts called something spicy. Eight meant the kimchi dumplings — heat that hits the top of your head three seconds in, hot even for spice lovers. The other three found the noodle broth itself peppery; one had asked for no chili and still felt it.
  3. Nine posts described the seating: a wall-facing counter for solo diners, a big central table, and group tables at the back. One post also mentioned two private rooms inside.

Parking

Posts saying you cannot1 of 18 posts

One visitor said there's no parking lot. Several posts point to the nearby Seongsu 2-ga 1-dong public lot, but all in copied info blocks, and they disagree on its rate (1,200 won an hour in May, 1,800 in July). A listing-style post claiming the shop has parking described no visit, so we didn't count it.

Toilet inside1 of 18 posts

The shop is on the second floor, reached by stairs; six posts described climbing them. One said there is no elevator and the stairs would be hard for anyone with bad legs; another called them very steep.

Wheelchair or stroller access looks unlikely: one post said there is no elevator. Nobody wrote about a step at the door.

Only one post mentioned the toilet — clean and inside the shop. Nobody said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 22 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices changed. A May 19, 2026 post had both noodle dishes at 10,000 won; posts from June 3, June 12, a June visit and October 1 had the dongchimi noodles at 13,000 won. One June 27 post still gave 10,000 won — perhaps an earlier visit; we can't tell. The October post says the menu has gone up again since, but nobody has written the new prices. A one-person noodles-and-dumplings set was 15,000 won, and two people spent 32,000–33,000 won.
  • Size is disputed: two posts called the room spacious, two said it is not big.
  • Only two posts wrote from experience about getting there: one called it a 10-minute walk from Seongsu Station, the other said it's a bit far from the station. Distances like 717 m from Exit 3 are copied from the listing.
  • No post described waiting in line; one arrived at opening and found the place empty. Warnings about a lunchtime wait appear only in listing-copy posts, so we don't count them. That doesn't mean there's no wait — just that nobody recorded one.
  • Who people came with doesn't add up to a pattern: one post with friends, one with a boyfriend, the rest unspecified.
  • Eleven posts gave hours, all copied from the listing: nine say 11:00–20:00, nine a 16:00–17:00 break, four a 19:30 last order. One each says 10:00–22:00, 11:00–20:30, or a 15:00–16:00 break. No post gave a closing day.
  • Four posts gave the same phone number, 0507-1399-3044. Whether it takes reservations is unclear: one post's copied info lists reservations, while a no-visit listing post says it doesn't.
  • Three posts follow the same promotional template — pasted review-count widgets or the shop's own announcement, no actual visit — so we left them out. Three posts were about the Namyangju original; its big lot, remote waitlist and Monday closing belong to that shop, not this one.
