Japanese

Jjimajjima

찌마찌마 Chimachima (ちまちま) is Japanese for small and dainty; several posts say it is Shimane dialect for 'cute and cozy'.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

Jjimajjima is a Japanese home-cooking restaurant and izakaya on the second floor of a building on Yeonmujang 3-gil, near exit 4 of Seongsu Station. Lunch is set meals: cream salmon steak 15,000 won, hamburg steak 12,000 won, chicken katsu 11,000 won. Dinner adds sashimi, sukiyaki hot pot, grilled toothfish, sake, highballs and draft beer, plus an omakase booked a day ahead (88,000 won at dinner). Posts describe everyone from office workers eating alone to a 26-person company dinner. We read 27 posts from October 2024 to August 2026; 23 are first-hand meals. Two were about other restaurants and two were pasted or rewritten material, so we did not count them.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Four posts walked from Seongsu Station. Two give the route: exit 4, then the alley by the shoe-themed park. One couple noted that coming by subway meant they could have a daytime drink.
  2. Six posts are group visits, the most common case: lunch with colleagues or a boss, and a 26-person company dinner. Two went with family, three with friends, two as a couple. Posts describe a big group table in the middle, four-seat tables on the sides and a bar counter at the window.
  3. There is a curtained or partitioned VIP area reserved for omakase guests. Four posts describe it; one adds that because it is only partitioned, it feels less private than a real room.
  4. Seven posts call the staff kind. One family got braised flatfish and a pasta on the house for a birthday; another says the staff explained the menu patiently.
2 more
  1. Fried food comes up a lot. Six posts call it crisp: chicken katsu, potato croquettes, fried oysters, shrimp tempura. One found the chicken katsu coating crisp to the point of being a little hard.
  2. Six posts describe repeat visits: one came back the very next day for the hamburg steak, one returned after two months, one simply says they've lost count.

Getting inside

Second floor10 of 21 posts
Lift to the flooryes 0 · no 1 (of 21 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 21 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 21 posts

It is up one flight of stairs. Ten posts mention the second floor; one says the building has no elevator, and another warns the stairs are steeper than you expect.

We don't know whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. Posts mention stairs, but none mention a ramp or an entrance step. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there isn't one. One post says there is no elevator.

Only one post describes the restroom: inside the restaurant, separate for men and women. Elsewhere it only appears once in a pasted info block. Nobody mentions an accessible restroom.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waiting barely comes up. One post says an earlier attempt failed because it was too crowded, but no post gives a wait time. Others found lunch quiet. One says it was nearly full around 9 pm.
  • A pair at lunch may be seated at the window bar. One couple asked for a four-seat table and was told those are kept for groups of four; they also found the window seats hot. Only one post reports this, so we can't say it is a rule.
  • Portions split opinion: four posts found them generous (courses and lunch sets), two found them small. One of those was about the hamburg steak, and the other simply called the portions stingy.
  • At least one price went up: the miso-braised mackerel set is 13,000 won in posts through July 2025 and 15,000 won in December 2025. The cream salmon set was 15,000 won in all five posts from December 2024 to May 2026. Two posts said it wasn't expensive; none said it was.
  • All opening hours come from pasted info blocks. Thirteen posts give 11:30–23:00 on weekdays, eleven give a 14:00–17:30 break, and eleven say closed Sundays. On Saturdays, posts through November 2025 say it opened at 17:30, while posts from December 2025 say noon, so we treat that as a change. One June 2026 post says it opens on Sundays too, unlike every other post. Two posts copy menu rules: meal sets until 7 pm, dinner dishes from 5 pm.
  • Several posts list the phone number 0507-1336-6014. The menu says omakase needs booking a day ahead, and one post says to call for group reservations. The anecdote about the TV personality Sayuri and the 'Japanese master chef' lineage are the restaurant's own claims, so we didn't count them. Three posts saw celebrity autographs on the wall themselves.
