Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

Jaok is an izakaya in a back alley off Seongdeokjeong 21-gil, near Ttukdo Market in Seongsu-dong. It is built around a ten-kind platter of aged sashimi (49,000 won), with its signature chicken karaage (15,000 won), red-crab seafood ramyeon and sake-steamed scallops alongside, and it is open from 6 pm to 2 am. We read 30 posts dated 21 December 2025 to 13 September 2026; 26 are first-hand visits. We set aside three that were about other places and one that only compiled listing data. The sashimi platter appears in 17 of the visits. For a sense of the bill, one post ordered sashimi, karaage, ramyeon and grilled pork cartilage and paid 94,000 won before drinks.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The karaage comes fanned out with rice paper fried into it — one post describes thin, crackly sheets piled on the chicken, and three mention a black-sesame topping. Eight posts call the frying crisp, counting the chicken skin, the seafood pancake and the stuffed eggplant as well.
  2. Waiting depends on the hour. One post waited 30–40 minutes at 8:30 pm on Saturday 4 July 2026; another phoned ahead and was told the inside was full. One post walked in right at opening without waiting, and four say they got in around 6–7 pm and watched the room fill up soon after.
  3. Six posts say you can book, and five actually did — two through Naver, one through CatchTable, one by phone, one unspecified. Two posts were told only 30% of seats are taken by reservation, the rest kept for walk-ins; that is what the house said, so we don't count it.
  4. Posts split three to three on noise. Three found it calm; three found it loud — music turned way up, tables so close the room buzzes, too busy for a quiet talk. One post that came back says it was packed and very loud after 10 pm but half-empty at opening, so early evening and late night are different rooms.
5 more
  1. Five posts say it's cramped: even the four-tops are tight, two dishes fill a two-top, and tables sit so close there's nowhere to put bags, so coats get hung wherever they fit. Seating is indoor tables, a counter, and spots outside the folding doors; three posts sat at or describe the semi-outdoor seats.
  2. Posts disagree on the walk. Three call it an easy walk from Seongsu Station exit 3 (two say about ten minutes); four say it's a bit far from the station, and two say they walked about fifteen minutes.
  3. Six posts call the staff kind — handing out a hand warmer and blanket on a cold outdoor seat, moving a table when a third friend turned up. Three say the sashimi was explained piece by piece.
  4. Eight posts went with friends — work cohorts, old colleagues, wedding-invite rounds — often as the second stop of the night.
  5. Four posts mention a 'beware of dog' note at the door; only one says outright that dogs greeted them, so we count one.

From the station

Posts disagree on the walk. Three call it an easy walk from Seongsu Station exit 3 (two say about ten minutes); four say it's a bit far from the station, and two say they walked about fifteen minutes.

Getting inside

Toilet inside7 of 24 posts
Separate restroomsyes 2 · no 1 (of 24 posts read)

No one described the floor from experience; '1st floor' appears only in the address. That doesn't mean it's elsewhere — just that nobody wrote it down.

No post says whether there's a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. With five posts calling the tables cramped, room to move inside isn't certain either.

Seven posts say the toilet is inside. They split on how it's divided: two say the indoor one is women-only with the men's outside (one admits not checking the men's), and one calls the indoor toilet unisex. Six posts call the place clean, five of them about the toilet, and three mention cotton swabs, hair ties or hand lotion left out for guests.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices shift by date and by post. The sake-steamed scallops were 20,000 won in a January 2026 post and 22,000 won in August. Red-crab ramyeon is 15,000 won in two posts (June, August) and 18,000 won in one June post. Five posts give 49,000 won for the sashimi platter. No one called it expensive; one called it good value for Seongsu.
  • The menu has changed. A January 2026 post had the brisket-and-tofu braise with udon added; two June posts say it has since disappeared from the menu. One post also found the menu card water-stained and hard to read, so check what's on offer when you go.
  • Opening hours agree across all twelve posts that give them: 6 pm to 2 am. No one recorded a last order or a day off from experience; 'no regular closing day' appears only in one copied info block.
  • Two posts list the phone number, 0507-1384-2908. One rang to ask about a free table and booked it on the spot; another rang and was told to expect a wait.
  • Who people came with clusters on one answer: friends. Many posts recommend it for a date, but none we counted says they went as a couple, with family or with children.
