Jakya

작야 Jakya is written 酌夜 — 'to pour a drink' and 'night' — which the owner's own introduction, copied into one post, glosses as a small late-night drinking room.

Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →

Jakya (酌夜, 'pouring at night') is a small izakaya on a ground floor in a side street of Seongdeokjeong-gil, near Ttukdo Market in Seongsu-dong. It opens at 5:30 pm and runs into the small hours, serving hot pots, fried dishes, grilled plates and rice-based snacks to go with drinks. Prices posts gave run from 9,000 won for tomato-bacon skewers to 28,000 won for the spicy beef-tripe hot pot; yuringi fried chicken was 22,000 won. The house dog, Yeongsim, and the walls of Japanese figures, plush toys and character cups turn up in almost every post. We read 30 posts dated from 29 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. Four were Buddhist verse collections that matched only because the word 昨夜 appears in a poem, so we set them aside. Of the 26 posts about this bar, 24 describe an actual visit, two of them sponsored.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Twenty of the 24 visit posts mention Yeongsim, the house dog. Two found her asleep on a blanket, one saw her dozing in an outfit, and several had her come and lie down beside their table. One visitor assumed the dog belonged to a nearby customer and was told it was the bar's own. Worth knowing if you are uneasy around dogs.
  2. Fourteen posts say a complimentary snack arrives when you sit down. Nine name seasoned seaweed stems and seven name shrimp crackers. One got sweet-potato chips with green laver instead, and another got small potatoes. Three posts say the water is actually a roasted-grain tea, served in a raccoon-shaped cup.
  3. Seven posts describe the seating, and three agree on the same layout: two four-seat tables and four two-seat tables. Another counted six or seven tables. Several posts call the room small. One said it was cramped but the tables were spaced well enough, and another found the spacing generous. One group of seven did fit in.
  4. Six posts say they saw celebrity autographs on the walls, and three single out Paul Kim's. One also names Kim Hee-jin, Boo Seung-kwan and Ha Ji-won. We did not count posts that only repeated that celebrities supposedly drop by.
3 more
  1. Twelve posts describe the fried dishes as crisp, mostly the yuringi. Eight visits ordered it, making it the most-ordered dish here, followed by the brisket doenjang rice stew with five.
  2. Of the posts that say who they went with, ten went with friends and four with a partner or spouse. Several came here as a second stop, two of them after yellowtail at a raw-fish place nearby. No post describes going alone.
  3. Five posts walked over from the subway. The route they describe goes from Seongsu Station exit 3 toward Ttukdo Market, then into the lane opposite the Seoul Forest police box. One came on foot from Seoul Forest Station on the Suin-Bundang line, and another noted a bus stop across the street with buses to that station. Two posts said it is a bit of a walk, about 15 minutes from Seongsu Station.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Five posts walked over from the subway. The route they describe goes from Seongsu Station exit 3 toward Ttukdo Market, then into the lane opposite the Seoul Forest police box. One came on foot from Seoul Forest Station on the Suin-Bundang line, and another noted a bus stop across the street with buses to that station. Two posts said it is a bit of a walk, about 15 minutes from Seongsu Station.

Getting inside

Toilet inside2 of 23 posts

No visitor described which floor the bar is on; the only clue is '1st floor' in the address. Nobody mentioned an upstairs room or stairs.

Nobody wrote about a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller; that means we do not know, not that access is easy or hard. One post's copied info block says the bar admits no children, but we did not treat that as evidence.

Two posts say the toilet is inside the bar, one of them reached through a passage beside the snack shelf. Three call it clean, and two mention soft hand towels. Nobody said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes queueing. That does not mean there is never a wait, only that nobody reported one. Some posts did find it busy: packed early on a weekday, full late on a Sunday night, crowded on a weekday evening. A regular says it is empty right at opening time, and one post found Fridays and Saturdays quieter before 8 pm or after 11 pm. Posts say you can book through Naver, CatchTable or by phone.
  • Ten posts list opening hours, all with a 5:30 pm opening. Eight say it closes at 3 am and two, both from November 2025, say 1 am. Four give last orders at 2 am, and eight say it is closed on Mondays. Most of these are copied into the top of a post, so check current hours before you go.
  • Each price comes from one or two posts, all from October to December 2025. Two posts called it good value and none called it expensive. Nobody said what a pair or group actually paid in total.
  • A shelf of Korean and Japanese snacks sits in one corner. Three posts say you can pick something from it after leaving a Naver review or booking, and a fourth calls it a coupon. A regular notes it used to be a lucky draw, so the arrangement has changed before.
  • The menu changes over time. Posts from November 2025 introduce the spicy beef-tripe hot pot and hotteok ice cream as new; before that, a regular described rotating through four soups.
  • Some posts are promotional. Two say they were sponsored, and two others follow the same template without saying so: the same hours-and-phone header, the raccoon cup of barley tea, the dog on a blanket and the soft towels, in the same order. One more is stitched together from Naver review counts and the owner's own blurb, so we did not count it as a visit. Eight posts give the same phone number, 0507-1356-3840.
