Hodam Seolleongtang

호담설렁탕 Seolleongtang is milky ox-bone soup (the red sign uses the older spelling seollongtang), and none of the posts explain the word Hodam.

Compiled from 27 blog posts read in fullSources →

A seolleongtang (ox-bone soup) house on an alley off Achasan-ro 7-gil, about seven minutes' walk from Seongsu Station exit 1, under a white sign with red letters reading the older spelling seollongtang. Several posts describe office workers eating soup at lunch and tables drinking soju over boiled beef or beef hot pot in the evening. Seolleongtang was 11,000 won in posts through January 2026 and 12,000 won from May 2026; a small plate of boiled beef was usually 35,000 won, and seven posts said it arrives over a candle or mini burner that keeps it warm. Kimchi, radish kimchi and scallions sit in tubs on each table to help yourself. We read 30 posts from 29 May 2025 to 11 September 2026; 29 describe an actual visit. Fifteen posts from late May to early July 2025 repeat the same search keywords and read like a promotional batch.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You order from your seat: eleven posts used a tablet or kiosk on the table. One said you can pay there and split the bill; another watched staff come over and place the order for older diners at the next table who couldn't work it.
  2. Eleven posts said the beef and broth had no off-smell. One described a light-brown broth with a faint funk that it liked all the more. Five posts noted the boiled beef is cut thick.
  3. Eight posts said the portions are generous — plenty of beef and noodles in the soup, and a 'small' boiled-beef plate that made people doubt it was the small. Three posts said the rice bowl comes packed full.
  4. Five posts found the staff kind: one owner covered a bowl so it stayed hot while a husband parked, another added meat to a lunch plate that looked short. One regular who goes almost weekly disagreed — no greeting on the way in or out, hot dishes put down without a word, a curt response when asked for the air conditioning — though she added it has improved.

Getting inside

In a basement4 of 27 posts

There is seating in a basement room as well as on the ground floor. Four posts saw it themselves — staff send you downstairs when the ground floor is full, it is 'really big', and it has group tables. Posts from June 2025 describe only six or seven tables upstairs; the basement first appears in a September 2025 post, and nobody says whether it opened in between.

No one mentions a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair, nor whether the basement is reached by stairs or a lift. That means nobody said, not that there is none.

We don't know whether the toilet is inside. One post noticed the kiosk shows directions to it; nobody describes where it is or whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts split three to three on whether the place is roomy or small. The June 2025 posts counted only the ground floor (about 28 seats, seven tables); the 2026 posts calling it spacious had seen the basement.
  • No post mentions a move or a name change; what changed is the price — seolleongtang went from 11,000 won (through January 2026) to 12,000 won (from May 2026).
  • Prices vary by date. Seolleongtang rose from 11,000 to 12,000 won; the small boiled-beef plate is mostly 35,000 won, but a May 2026 post lists 39,000 and a July 2026 post lists 35,000 again, so we can't say which is current. One June 2025 post put seolleongtang at 10,000 won.
  • Fourteen posts give hours, all copied into an info block rather than observed: twelve say 10:00–22:00, thirteen say closed Sundays, nine give last order at 21:00. One post alone says it opens at 08:00.
  • No post says it actually waited. One heard that lunch has a long queue but got lucky; another arrived at 6 p.m. to a full room and just got a table. Two posts saw a waiting table and chairs outside, and one describes a sign-up sheet at the door for name and party size. How long the wait runs, we don't know.
  • Many posts copy the phone number 0507-1301-3989 and some info blocks say reservations are possible, but no post says it actually booked by phone.
  • Fifteen posts from 29 May to 4 July 2025 repeat the same three search phrases. One discloses sponsorship and one says the food was provided; the rest say nothing. The provided-meal post's address and hours belong to a different location, so we didn't count them.
