Gwonsik Jokbal Seongsu Bonjeom

권식족발 성수본점 A Seongsu trotter house that serves the braised and the fire-grilled spicy version half and half on one plate.

Data as of · Published ·

Gwonsik Jokbal's main branch is a ground-floor shop about a hundred metres from exit 1 at Seongsu station, behind a yellow pig-shaped sign lettered in red. It does two things: braised pig trotter, plain, and the same trotter glazed and finished over an open flame. Twenty-one of the twenty-seven writers ordered them half and half on one plate. A dish of hot sundae arrives free once you order, and you order by the QR code on the table. Open in the afternoon, closed around eleven. The posts we read run from July to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. A dish of hot sundae comes free as soon as you order. Fifteen writers ate it and several praise it before anything else — steamed rather than frozen, better than what a sundae soup shop sells, gone before the main course arrived. Two say you can ask for more; one went back twice. The rest of the free spread is unusually full for a trotter house: lettuce, perilla, pickled radish, garlic, bean paste, salted shrimp, chive salad, dried radish, and a bowl of bean-sprout soup each — sharp enough that three writers finished theirs before the food came, one of them twice over. Two writers did not get the sundae. A July post says it used to come and does not any more; an August writer found out days later, from somebody else's review, that it exists at all. Whether it always comes we cannot say.
  2. Eleven writers remark on how many of the customers are foreign. One counted: about a third of the room. One noticed mostly Chinese guests; one was spoken to by the Japanese party at the next table; one saw groups of young women travellers. Two describe notices in Chinese, English and Japanese on the walls. One writer says this is where she would confidently take a friend visiting Korea. Three put it down to the broadcast.
  3. How hot the spicy trotter is, they do not agree. Fifteen say that even someone who cannot take heat will manage — one of them cannot finish a bowl of Shin Ramyun. Four say otherwise: one, who likes heat, found her lips tingling by the end; another kept reaching for the drink. Three reach for instant noodles as a yardstick and name three different noodles. As antidotes, six recommend the mayonnaise that comes with it, eight the steamed egg, nine the rice balls.
  4. You walk from the station. Nine writers put it about a hundred metres from exit 1 at Seongsu on line 2, and their walking times run from one minute to five. One gives actual directions: straight out of exit 1, then right at the pharmacy. Two say it is right on the road and hard to miss; two found it by the yellow pig sign.
  5. You order from a QR code on the table. Twelve writers say so; one found it strange at first and then convenient. Six note that a receipt review on the map or search app earns you one free thing — rice balls, scorched-rice porridge or a drink. Two note a ₩2,000 discount on takeaway, with a choice of free noodles or egg-and-rice on top. Three describe the delivery riders coming through without a break.

Parking

6 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot6 of 27 posts

There is no car park. Six writers say so, and they say what they did instead. Three name a building car park 134 metres away at ₩1,500 for the first half hour and ₩3,000 an hour; one of them used it and found parking in Seongsu less trouble than she had feared. One lists two more: a church car park and a district lot seven minutes' walk away at ₩100 per five minutes. One buys a parking voucher through an app before setting off. Two writers tell you not to drive — the station area is crowded and short of spaces; take the train.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 2 (of 27 posts read)

Nobody records the floor in their own words. The words "first floor" appear all through these posts, but always as part of the address the check-in widget prints, or copied from it. Not one writer says whether there are steps, or whether the door is level with the pavement. What they do say contradicts itself: one puts it right on the road, another back in a lane.

Nobody looked at the doorway. In twenty-seven posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, step and ramp never appear. One writer brought a child and says nothing about a high chair either. We do not know whether you can get in — not that you cannot, but that no one wrote it down.

The toilet is not inside the shop. Only two writers mention it and both put it outside: one simply says so, the other that it is inside the building, opened with a card key, and very clean — probably because of the key. Whether it is separated by sex, where the key comes from, and how many cubicles there are, nobody writes.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Every post about this shop was written inside one three-month window — 2 July to 27 September 2026, and nothing before it. The posts say why: twenty-four of them mention that the eating-show star Tzuyang came, six name the television programmes, and three describe the broadcast stills taped up outside. So what we have is three months of people who came because of a broadcast, not an account of what this place has been. Ten posts repeat that it has been here more than ten years, but that is the shop's own line; nobody who watched those ten years has written for us. Four posts declare a sponsorship — two were given a meal voucher, one a product, and one carries a sponsorship tag on a link inside the text. Six say they paid, one of them posting the receipt. One writes only "includes my own spending", which usually means part of the bill was covered. The other sixteen say nothing. And two posts end with the same thirteen hashtags in the same order — one of those two is a voucher post.
  • You queue. Fifteen writers say so. Four record how long: ten minutes, ten minutes, thirty, thirty to forty. The system is written down too — you put your name and your number on a board outside and they call you. One writer notes there is no app to book a place in the line. Four mention seats: one party's worth inside, a few more outside. It depends on the hour. One waited thirty to forty minutes at half past one on a Saturday and watched the queue melt away after two. Another found one at half past three; another found two parties ahead at half past six on a weekday; another waited thirty minutes after seven. One who came at nine on a weekday evening walked into a table that had just come free. Four writers note a two-hour limit on your table when people are waiting.
  • It is not a big room. Five writers say so plainly — snug but clean, not large though it fits a good many tables, about ten tables and small with it. Two counted: around ten four-tops. The one writer who calls it roomy is one of the sponsored posts. One mentions a long table by the window; another says they push tables together. Twenty-three posts suggest it for a work dinner, but what most of them saw was somebody else's work dinner at the next table, not their own.
  • A lot of what these posts contain was copied. Four of them carry the same run of amenities — corkage, wi-fi, a waiting area, local currency, contactless — lifted whole from the map listing. Not one writer used the corkage, and not one used the wi-fi. So we left those fields empty. Sixteen repeat, word for word, that the sauce is aged 720 hours and the trotters are braised fresh each day and finished over flame; that is the shop's own line, and one writer says outright that he is quoting the sign. One writer reports a certificate of Korean origin displayed in the room.
  • Whether it is good value they do not settle. One writer observes that two people cannot eat here for under ₩40,000 and that it is not a cheap meat house — and then, at the end of the same post, recommends it as good value for a work dinner. Another calls the pricing very fair for the quality. One party of two spent ₩90,000 with drinks; one party of four took the extra-large half-and-half with rice. The trotter prices themselves never move across the three months — ₩46,000 for the medium half-and-half, ₩44,000 for the plain, in July as in September. What moves is the sides: the steamed egg at ₩4,000 and ₩5,000, the porridge at ₩5,000 and ₩6,000, the two figures sitting in posts written on the same day.
  • The number in the posts is not the number in our records. All fifteen posts that give a phone number give the same one — 0507-1370-8516. The number on the food-business licence is 02-464-5961. The 0507 prefix is a forwarding number the map service issues, and it stops working if the shop drops that service, so we publish the direct line from the licence and record the other one here. Which of the two is answered today we have not checked.
