Gwangjang Jokbal

광장족발 Gwangjang means a public square, and jokbal is braised pigs' trotters; the check-in name adds bonga, the original house.

Compiled from 6 blog posts read in fullSources →

A jokbal (braised pigs' trotters) house on the ground floor of the Sinseong Building at 96 Achasan-ro, near Seongsu Station. People order trotters in small to extra-large sizes, add buckwheat or tray noodles, and drink. We read 10 posts dated 2 August to 2 October 2026; 8 describe eating in. Of the other two, one took food home and one is a few lines in a list of places. Two posts describe visits from May and June, written up later.

What sets it apart

  1. Five posts mention a wait. One arrived at 8:20 pm behind three groups and waited about 15 minutes; another went straight after work and found two groups ahead; a third put their name down, wandered off and still sat a long time on the chairs outside. A regular who has seen queues lately suggests calling ahead.
  2. Two posts mention chairs outside for the queue. One says orders are taken while you wait, so the food arrived as soon as they sat down.
  3. Three posts describe going back: one reckons about ten visits over two or three years, one returned with a partner days after a work dinner, and one comes whenever in Seongsu, though that writer wondered if it was slightly less good than before.
  4. One post says the room is small, with a few extra tables outside. Some posts describe group dinners, but none says how many seats there are.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

The address says ground floor, but no post describes the floor from experience.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. We don't know.

No post says where the toilet is or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 8 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Portions split one to one: one couple found trotters and noodles plenty for two, another found the medium size smaller than expected.
  • Sweetness splits too: one post found it a bit saltier and sweeter than other jokbal, another said it was pleasantly not sweet.
  • No post describes the walk from a station or bus stop. That does not mean it is hard to reach, only that no one wrote about it.
  • Few posts say who they went with: one post covers both a work dinner and a later visit with a partner, and one went with a friend. No post tells us about going alone or with children.
  • No post gives opening hours, closing days or a break time. Check before you go.
  • No post gives a price, neither for each size of trotters nor for a full meal.
  • No post lists a phone number, and it is unclear whether bookings are taken; one post simply recommends calling ahead.
