Gangjin Sutbul Galbi

강진숯불갈비 Gangjin is the name of a county in South Jeolla Province and sutbul galbi means ribs grilled over charcoal; none of the posts explain any tie to the county.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

A charcoal-grill rib house on the fifth floor of the WiZ-L Seongsu building on Ttukseom-ro 13-gil, Seongdong-gu. You order marinated pork neck, marinated beef rib or Korean beef rib-finger meat, and a staff member grills it over charcoal beside the table and plates it for you; most people finish with arrowroot naengmyeon or a beef doenjang stew. August 2026 menu prices: pork neck 20,000 won, marinated beef rib 34,000, Korean beef rib-finger 39,000, naengmyeon 8,500, stew 8,000. There is a pork-neck lunch set (19,000 won in December 2025). We read 30 posts from November 2025 to October 2026; 23 describe eating here. Four were about other places (Gangjin county, or another restaurant in the same building) and three were new-listing roundups we did not count.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You do not grill your own meat: 20 of the 23 visit posts say a staff member did it, one person per table. The charcoal sits beside the table rather than in the middle, and one post says that kept the smell out of their clothes. One couple asked to take over halfway so they could talk privately; another was put off when a piece dropped on the table went straight back onto their plate.
  2. Parking is by valet. Three posts used it: you press a bell marked in yellow at the building entrance and an attendant comes out. One paid a 4,000 won valet fee and says the attendant was curt when asked for the account number. The '4,000 won for the first 90 minutes' and 'free valet' lines are copied listings, so we do not rely on them.
  3. This is not a rowdy rib joint: five posts call it quiet and eleven call it clean, one likening it to a calm restaurant rather than a barbecue house. Three mention wide spacing between tables, and several came with parents or for family gatherings.
  4. Five posts say the seasoning is not strong; one called the marinated beef rib very mild and warned that people used to bold seasoning may find it bland. One post felt the opposite, finding it punchier than their usual place.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms1 of 22 posts

It is on the fifth floor, reached by the building lift. Six posts describe taking it up and stepping straight into the restaurant when the doors open; one Saturday visitor found the lift slower than expected.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in; they only say the lift opens straight into the restaurant. That is not evidence of step-free access, just silence.

Only one post describes the toilets: inside the restaurant, separate for men and women, with disposable floss and mouthwash. One other post just says the toilets were no concern.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Sweetness splits three to three; even for the same marinated pork neck, some found it sweet and others said it was not very sweet.
  • Prices went up: in December 2025 the marinated beef rib was 33,000 won and the Korean beef rib-finger 37,000; the May and August 2026 menus show 34,000 and 39,000. Two posts found it expensive and three found it fair. Two posts give a meal total: two adults and a child paid 95,000 won for four portions of pork neck plus stew and rice, and a team lunch came to well over 30,000 won a head.
  • Opening hours got shorter. Four posts up to March 2026 give closing at 22:30 on weekdays (22:00 at weekends); posts from May 2026 give 11:00-21:30 daily with last order at 20:50. Three posts say the 15:00-17:00 break is weekdays only. No post names a closing day, though one lists the days as Tuesday to Sunday.
  • No post mentions waiting. One avoided peak hours and found it fairly empty, and five booked ahead (Naver booking or CatchTable). We do not know how long the wait is at busy times.
  • Four posts give the phone number as 02-6012-9072; one gives 0507-1372-9071. Posts booked through Naver or CatchTable, and one phoned ahead to check a high chair was available.
