DAM SOT

담솥 성수점 Damsot Seongsu-jeom Dam comes from damda, to fill or put in — the sign reads 'filled with taste and care' — and sot is the iron pot each person's rice is cooked in.

Compiled from 15 blog posts read in fullSources →

The Seongsu branch of Damsot, a chain serving single-person pot rice, on the second floor of the Mega Coffee building on Yeonmujang 7-gil, a short walk from Seongsu Station exit 4. Rice is cooked in an individual pot and topped with eggplant, meat or fish, and comes on one tray with salad, kimchi, pickled radish, salted seafood, doenjang soup and a small yogurt drink. Several posts describe the routine: scoop the rice into a bowl, pour barley tea from the kettle into the pot, and finish with the scorched-rice soup. On menus from August 2026 most pots are ₩13,000, salmon ₩18,000, steak ₩19,000 and eel ₩21,000; earlier they were ₩1,000 less. One January 2026 post says the shop had just moved a little closer to the station; everything we read describes the current site. We read 30 posts from January 11 to October 5, 2026; 15 of them are visits to this branch. We set aside 9 posts about other branches or other restaurants.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Four posts say the room was full of foreign visitors — one guessed about 80%, another 90%. One Korean writer was shown to her table in Japanese, and one noticed English names under each item on the menu.
  2. Waiting is split. Two posts waited, one for under ten minutes. Two did not: one arrived just after the afternoon break, the other around 2 p.m. One walked in easily at 11:30 a.m. but saw every seat taken by about 11:50. One post mentions seats for people waiting, where she ordered ahead.
  3. Five posts mention a free drink for writing a receipt review; one says she took part and got a cider.
  4. Five posts describe the seating: a mix of two- and four-person tables and seats for solo diners. A party of six had movable two-tops pushed together for them. One post says the room is not big but has a lot of seats.

  1. Of the posts that had the spicy eggplant pot, three found it pleasantly hot. One was warned it could be very spicy but put it at about Shin Ramyun level, and one found the strong seasoning getting salty toward the end.

Getting inside

Second floor6 of 15 posts
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 15 posts read)

Six posts say it is upstairs, on the second floor of the building with Mega Coffee; one notes a wooden 'Damsot Seongsu' sign on the wall at the top of the stairs, so you cannot miss the floor.

Nobody writes about a step at the entrance, a lift, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means no one mentioned it, not that there is none. It is on the second floor, and one post describes walking up the stairs.

Only one post mentions the restroom: it is outside the restaurant, half a flight of stairs down. Nobody says whether there are separate men's and women's rooms.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 21 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • One post describes walking from Seongsu Station exit 4. The '177 m from exit 4' and 'five minutes on foot' lines in other posts are copied listing details.
  • Five posts call the place clean; one disagrees, saying the cups could be kept cleaner and that the bottom of her pot was badly burnt.
  • Five posts went with friends and one with a group of six. None went alone or with family; solo seats are mentioned, but nobody says they ate alone.
  • It is a chain branch; two posts say so. We also read three posts from the Damsot head office and franchise recruiting, one auto-generated post built from the listing, and two ranking lists; none of them counted as evidence.
  • Prices went up. A January 2026 post lists the spicy eggplant pot at ₩12,000; an August 2026 visit lists it at ₩13,000. Most pots rose by ₩1,000 somewhere in between, and we don't know exactly when. Three posts published after August still give the older ₩12,000-level prices, apparently from old menu photos or copied information. One September 2026 receipt charged ₩15,000 for an abalone pot listed at ₩16,000. A meal is one pot at ₩13,000–21,000.
  • One January 2026 post says the shop had moved slightly closer to the station and felt roomier and cosier for it. No post gives the old address.
  • Nine posts give the same hours — daily 11:00–21:30, break 15:30–17:00, last order 20:45 — but most are copied from the listing, and none mentions a closing day.
  • Nobody says whether it takes reservations. Five posts copy the phone number 0507-1329-0672.
