Akabosi
아카보시 Akaboshi is Japanese for 'red star'; the chef told one visitor he meant Venus, the morning star.

Akaboshi is a sushi omakase counter on a side street north of Seongsu Station, Exit 1. Since April 2026 diners sit at a single cypress counter for a 60,000-won lunch (seatings at 12:00 and 13:30) or a 120,000-won dinner (18:30 and 19:00), booked through CatchTable. Writers describe chawanmushi, small plates, nigiri, fried puffer, mackerel bozushi, a fried-eel roll, udon or soba, then tamagoyaki and matcha ice cream. Until February 2026 the same room was an evening izakaya selling dishes à la carte — a two-person sashimi platter for 56,000 won, fried puffer for 18,000. We read 30 posts dated 7 May 2025 to 21 September 2026; 24 record an actual meal (15 from the omakase era, 9 from the izakaya era).

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The 60,000-won lunch is the story here. Eight posts say it is not expensive, and no one who went called it pricey. One writer compares it with other places where lunch runs 80,000–90,000 won; another wonders aloud whether the chef can afford to charge so little.
- This is a counter where you talk with the chef. Eleven posts call the chef or owners kind. One writer found him quiet until the conversation got going; another watched him swap in a sinew-free cut of tuna for older guests; another saw a child who disliked matcha get a different ice cream. Several posts say that mentioning a birthday or anniversary got a candle in the dessert. Writers say a husband-and-wife team runs it.
- Book ahead. Eleven posts say they booked or that you need to, and omakase-era posts name CatchTable. One writer booked a birthday lunch two weeks out; an April 2026 visitor found it easy to get a seat.
- People go here for occasions. Five posts describe going with a spouse or partner, for birthdays and anniversaries (one couple wrote up the same dinner twice). Others went with their mother, with friends, or alone.
3 more
- Walk from Seongsu Station. Seven posts describe the walk — 5 to 7 minutes from Exit 1. One mentions a convenient bus stop nearby, another came by bus. One warns the sign is small and easy to miss.
- Seasoning runs strong. Two posts say so — one found the miso soup and soba broth salty overall; the other noted salt-forward rice and liked it.
- You can bring a bottle. Two posts say one bottle's corkage was free — but one ties this to a CatchTable promotion, so it may not last.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Toilet inside | yes 0 · no 2 (of 24 posts read) |

No one describes the floor or any stairs from experience; the '1st floor' in the address is registry data. We don't know.
No post mentions a step at the door or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that there's no barrier.
The toilet is outside the restaurant. Two posts say so — one from February 2026, and an April post describing a shared building toilet that isn't very clean, suggesting you go at the station first. No one says whether it is split by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Seating depends on when. Two izakaya-era posts (to February 2026) describe mostly two- and four-person tables with a few counter seats. Two omakase-era posts (from April 2026) describe a counter only — nine seats, with eight taken per sitting. No one since the switch mentions any tables.
- The place did not move; the same room changed from izakaya to omakase in spring 2026. Older posts mention evening-only hours, a one-drink-per-person rule, a bottle-or-corkage requirement for reservations and a free cabbage salad — none of this appears after the switch, so we do not count it as current.
- No one reports waiting in line; three posts say they walked straight in or had the place to themselves. Since the omakase runs fixed, booked seatings, we don't know whether walking in and waiting works.
- Opening hours are uncertain. Posts from April and July 2026 say it closes on Mondays, but another July post says it is open daily 12:00–22:30 with a 15:00–18:00 break. Several posts agree on the course start times: 12:00 and 13:30 for lunch, 18:30 and 19:00 for dinner. The izakaya-era evening hours from 17:30 no longer apply.
- Prices held at 60,000 won for lunch and 120,000 for dinner from April through September 2026. A June post heard prices might rise from July, but August and September posts still say 60,000. Drinks are extra — draft beer was 10,000 won. Izakaya-era prices, like the 56,000-won sashimi platter, no longer apply.
- The phone number changed: posts up to March 2026 give 0507-1436-0934, posts from July and September give 0507-1303-0920. Most writers booked through CatchTable; none mention booking by phone.
- Six of the 30 posts aren't counted: a top-20 list pasted from a review widget, two neighborhood roundups, two templated write-ups of the menu and reputation, and one with leftover Coupang affiliate boilerplate. Their praise is secondhand, so we don't rely on it.
