Taeseong Golbaengi Sinsa Seongsu
태성골뱅이신사 성수점 Golbaengi is the whelk, a sea snail served here tossed with scallion shreds and thin noodles; sinsa means gentleman, and Taeseong is the brand's proper name.

Taeseong Golbaengi Sinsa sits in the basement of 8 Wangsimni-ro 10-gil, down an alley from exit 7 of Ttukseom station — a pub built around whelk salad and fried chicken. The most-ordered item, in 14 posts, is the set of whelk salad, thin noodles and fried chicken (38,000 won with half a bird, 47,000 with a whole one), washed down with draft or craft beer and highballs. Several posts say it shares an owner with Boksam Sanghoe on the second floor, where you can order from this menu too; one group moved downstairs after Boksam closed and kept drinking. We read 30 posts dated July 21 to October 5, 2026. Ten were about Boksam Sanghoe and were set aside, one was a list written before visiting, and 19 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- For a whelk house, the chicken gets as much attention as the whelk. Of the 19 visit posts, 15 call the coating crisp and none disagree. One writer admits they expected little and were surprised how crisp it was; another went for the whelk and left won over by the chicken. Even the half bird comes with fries and two dipping sauces, typically a sweet-spicy glaze and a chili mayo.
- The whelk salad comes two ways: a traditional version dressed with chili flakes, garlic and scallion and no vinegar, and a tangy one with vinegar. Either way it arrives under a pile of scallion shreds with strips of dried filefish mixed in. Twelve posts say it is spicy — one writer was caught off guard by the heat — and the one person who ordered the hot fried chicken gave up after a single piece.
- Nine posts mention a big screen, and several writers ate while watching Asian Games baseball, football or swimming. Some also saw a microphone, a tambourine and a karaoke machine — the room is set up for office parties.
- Twelve posts describe the room as roomy. Around 50 seats is the figure several give; one lays it out as sofa benches and four-tops along the walls with three eight-seat tables in the middle. Many writers saw large groups the night they went. One was told by staff that pairs get seated by the entrance when a group is in.
3 more
- Seven posts mention a Naver review promotion. Two spell out the tiers — four croquettes for one review, three large fried shrimp for two, pineapple sorbet for three — and three writers actually got the shrimp. In one post the croquettes had run out, so the table was upgraded to shrimp and, being four people, got a fourth piece on request.
- Nine posts note a free bar snack on arrival — crackers, fried macaroni or puffed corn, depending on the night.
- Eight posts say it is easy by subway: three to six minutes on foot from exit 7 of Ttukseom station, and walkable from Seoul Forest station too.

Only one post speaks about parking from its own visit, regretting that there is no lot and pointing to public parking. The other seven repeat a copied line about no dedicated parking and nearby paid lots. No writer said they drove.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | 13 of 19 posts |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 2 of 19 posts |
Thirteen posts say they went down to the basement to eat. Several describe graffiti along the stairwell and a green interior with a checkerboard floor; some add that it did not smell or feel stuffy for a basement.
Accounts of the floors disagree. Some Boksam Sanghoe posts and the pre-visit list put Taeseong on the ground floor, or describe a pub on the ground floor, private rooms upstairs and group seating below. No visit post says they ate on the ground floor, and two describe the ground floor as a beef-brisket restaurant.
No one wrote about steps at the door, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift. That does not mean there is none — only that no one said. Three posts mention taking stairs down to the basement.
Two posts say the toilet is inside the bar, one adding that it was clean. Whether there are separate men's and women's rooms appears only in one copied info block; nobody reported seeing it.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 20 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opening hours differ from post to post, and all but one were copied from a listing. Six posts give Monday 17:00–24:00 and Tuesday to Sunday 17:00–01:00, with closing flexible between midnight and 2 a.m. Two posts (August 31 and September 25, 2026) say 17:00–24:00 and closed Sundays; one says open every day of the year, another daily 17:00–24:00. The latest, October 5, gives Monday to Saturday 16:00–02:00 and Sunday 16:00–24:00. We cannot tell whether it opens on Sundays.
- One post says the bill did not match the menu: a 1,700 ml beer listed at 17,000 won was charged at 18,000, and the part-timer blamed a setting the owner had entered. Otherwise, a typical night in the posts is one set (38,000 or 47,000 won) plus draft beer at 5,000–6,000 won a glass.
- No post mentions waiting. One writer, there on the night of a Korea–Japan football final, saw seats still free as people kept arriving. Another advises coming before 6:30 p.m. on weekdays because office groups fill it after seven, without saying whether that came from experience. One writer booked ahead.
- On noise the posts split one to one: one calls it the quietest bar in Seongsu, another says it is a place for loud, lively drinking.
- Four posts found the staff friendly. One is mixed: a part-timer threw in an extra shrimp, but when the order came out wrong and the bill was off, the writer wished the owner had stepped in rather than leaving it to foreign staff.
- Seven posts list the phone number as 0507-1376-7104; one gives 010-4581-0711 and another 02-6469-7100. Bookings are said to go through Naver or by phone.
- Most visit posts repeat the same five search phrases — Ttukseom pocha, Ttukseom meeting spot, Seongsu group gathering, Seoul Forest group bar, Seoul Forest bar picks — in titles, text and hashtags. Only one writer, across two posts, disclosed a free meal voucher; the rest say nothing. These may be from one promotional brief, so read the 'great for groups' line with that in mind.
