Seongsu Gimbap Peonitheong

성수김밥 퍼니텅 Peonitheong is the Korean spelling of the English 'funny tongue' (the shop's Instagram handle is seongsugimbap_funnytongue); one post passes on that the name stands for a resolve to make eating fun for the tongue, and 'Seongsu Gimbap' simply names the neighborhood.

Seongsu Gimbap Peonitheong is a gimbap-and-ramyeon snack bar on the ground floor of the Seoul Forest M Tower (Ttukseom-ro 1-gil 31, unit 104-2). You order at a kiosk and help yourself to seaweed soup, pickled radish and kkakdugi from a self-service bar; many people take their rolls to Seoul Forest. A roll costs 4,400 won (the basic Seongsu gimbap) to 6,900 won (the tofu-skin roll), and most rolls can be made with egg instead of rice. Until April 24, 2026 the shop was a small place on Seongdeokjeong 3-gil near Gyeongil Elementary; it reopened here on May 1. We read 30 posts dated March 30 to September 28, 2026; 27 describe eating there or picking up food.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six posts mention the move. A visitor just before it copied the notice: the old shop closed on April 24, 2026 and reopened at the M Tower on May 1, and called the old room fairly cramped. Posts about the new shop call it closer and roomier, and one office worker was delighted it moved into the ground floor of her own building. We do not count seating, floor or hours from posts about the old shop.
  2. Eight posts ordered at the kiosk; one notes there are two, and you collect your tray when your number appears. One post wished the kiosk let you drop cucumber; another copied the shop's notice to mention unwanted ingredients with your order number.
  3. Nine posts took food away or describe how; several mention takeout containers at the self-service bar for pickles, and two carried their rolls to a picnic in Seoul Forest.
  4. Four posts mention the windows: a glass-fronted counter looking out on the trees toward Seoul Forest.
2 more
  1. Seven posts describe the seating: a long communal table in the middle (one says ten seats, another eight or nine), two four-tops, and single counter seats along the wall and window, which solo diners used.
  2. Thirteen posts describe repeat visits, but six come from one office worker's weekly diary (she settled on the tofu-skin roll every Wednesday evening) and three from another diarist, so fewer people are behind them.

Posts saying you can park1 of 26 posts

Only one post actually parked: they drove over to pick up gimbap and say it was free because they left within 30 minutes. Five other posts copy listing info — paid parking in the building's basement, no validation from the shop, brief stops allowed for pickup — which we do not count as experience.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 26 posts read)

It is at street level, not in the basement: three posts say in passing that it is on the building's ground floor and easy to find.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. We only know it is on the ground floor.

Nobody mentions the restroom — whether it is inside the shop or shared in the building.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on size split three to two: three posts say it is roomier than the old shop, two say it is not large. Bigger than before, but still a small shop.
  • Waiting is barely covered: one post waited briefly at lunch before getting a counter seat and another found it busy, but nobody gives minutes. Two posts got their food in about five minutes. At the old shop a notice warned that orders were made one by one and could take time. Three posts ran into sold-out items or ingredients running out.
  • Two posts say they walked from Seoul Forest or Ttukseom station. The walking times in other posts (four minutes from Seoul Forest exit 1, six from Ttukseom exit 6, ten from Seoul Forest exit 2) are copied listing info.
  • All seven posts giving hours for the new shop copy them from listings, and they disagree about weekends. Weekdays are 10:00-19:00 with a break from 14:30 to 16:00 (one post says it opens at 10:30). Three posts list Saturday and Sunday 10:00-15:00; three say it is closed on Sundays. Check before going on a Sunday.
  • Prices agree across posts from May to September 2026: 4,400 won for the basic roll, 4,900 for the celtuce roll, 5,400 for egg-wrapped or tuna, 6,900 for the tofu-skin roll, 4,500 for ramyeon; a roll-and-ramyeon set came to 9,500. One August diary says a breakfast roll went from 4,800 to 5,000 won but does not say where, so we do not count it.
  • Two posts give the same phone number, 0507-1346-5025. Nobody says whether it takes reservations; the old shop's notice suggested ordering pickup through delivery apps to skip the wait.
  • One post says the food has tasted different since the move; no other post says so.
  • No post discloses sponsorship of this shop; eight say they paid themselves. A sponsorship notice at the top of one weekly diary refers to a bakery in the same post, not to this shop.
