Recovery Coffee Bar is a roastery cafe on the ground floor of a small block, five to seven minutes on foot from exit 1 at Ttukseom and set back inside a lane. A black frontage under a black-and-white striped awning; inside, the single largest thing in the room is the roaster. It sells Australian-style coffee — a cocoa-dusted cappuccino, flat whites, batch brew — alongside a rotating list of single origins brewed by the cup. Beans are sold by the bag, and the shop has run weekend coffee classes. It opens at eight in the morning and closes early in the evening. The posts we read run from October 2024 to September 2026.

What sets it apart

The thing writers repeat most about this place is that it is small. "Not a big room", "snug inside", "cramped", "not many seats" — strangers arrive at the same word independently, and several give the same reason: the espresso setup and the roaster take up more floor than the customers do. Three writers count the seats, and their counts agree: six to eight at tables, three or four at the bar, four at the window; or one central table for five or six, two window seats and the bar; or three seats outside plus bar, central table and five at the window. One writer puts it plainly — this is not a room for settling in and talking at length; another doubts a group could come at all. One writer found the room full enough that they shared a single table with two parties of strangers.
An unusual number of writers stop to read the stickers on the door. Blue Ribbon Survey ribbons for three straight years — 2024, 2025, 2026 — and more than one writer says the ribbons are why they walked in at all. Beyond those, single posts mention a Seoul Morning Coffee Club badge for cafes that open early, a brewing-competition award, a plaque of merit, and the owner having judged a competition. One writer came after seeing the shop on a coffee YouTube channel. None of it is evidence about the cup, but it does explain how the place got known.
It is a walk from Ttukseom station, and it is hard to find. Writers give five, six or seven minutes; two say Ttukseom is much closer than Seongsu station, and one puts Seoulforest station at twelve minutes. The difficulty is the lane, not the distance — one got lost the first time, one had walked the street daily without noticing a cafe was there, one doubts you would find it unless you meant to, one notes there is barely a sign. The landmark, named in two posts, is a black-and-white striped awning on a red brick building. Being off the main run is also why, several writers agree, the crush of central Seongsu does not reach this far.
A few writers copy down the ordering rules from the board. One is one drink per person; the other is that some drinks cannot be switched between hot and iced — one writer reads this as the shop serving each coffee the way it was meant to be drunk. The strawberry-fermented latte is iced only, and the signature drinks cannot be made decaf. One writer went for a signature, could not have it decaf, and fell back on a plain latte. If you have your heart set on something, ask first.
There are two or three seats outside, and they sit right on the road. Writers count "about two outside" or "about three"; one warm day the staff opened the window and rigged a tarp so the breeze came through. But one writer found those seats loud — the road is right there, and every car and scooter goes past. Another liked them for exactly the same reason, saying this is how Europe eats. The same seats, two verdicts: pick your hour and your weather. One writer notes a spot at the side to tie up a dog, and says outright that they did not get to ask whether a dog may sit inside.
Several writers end up in conversation at the bar. The beans shown and ground so they could smell them; a recommendation taken; a taste of the day's batch brew poured on the house; a single-origin espresso quietly upgraded to a dearer bean; the owner explaining what he was after in the pudding — each from a different post. One writer likens it to the small talk of a cafe abroad. There is one account on the other side: a writer who asked for a cup sleeve on their takeaway and was told the shop does not do those, and felt awkward about it. There appear to be no cup sleeves.
Nobody queues here, but at lunchtime there is nowhere to sit. Only two writers describe waiting at all: one went twice at about the same weekday hour and waited five to ten minutes once, nothing the other time; the other advises taking it away at lunch because the seats are gone, and adds that after two in the afternoon on a weekday it is comfortable again. A third arrived around three or four and was relieved to find a seat. One writer says there "may be" a wait — they did not wait, so we have not counted it. In a room this size the question is not how long the line is but whether a seat is free.
A basic coffee is ₩5,000–5,500 and a signature is ₩8,500, and across two years of posts those figures do not move. The writers who call it dear are not talking about the basics: ₩5,500 for a batch brew is "a bit much every day"; the pour-overs "cost more per cup"; a ₩14,000 anniversary blend "is pricey but worth it"; and the shop is "a touch above an ordinary cafe, fair enough given the beans". Only the writer who drinks it delivered calls the ₩8,500 strawberry latte very expensive — and says they keep buying it. One post, from April 2026, mentions ₩1,000 off when paying by KakaoPay. No other post says so, and we have not confirmed it still holds.
Mostly bar seating, but there are tables. One writer says everything is bar seating apart from a central table for five or six; three others count tables, bar and window separately. The big table in the middle seems to be shared — the writer who sat down with strangers describes exactly that. One came alone and took the bar; one found it a good room for a laptop.

No writer reports having parked. Two say in their own words that there is no car park: one that in a lane like this you park by your wits, another that although there is no lot there looks to be room for one car in front and perhaps one more where the side lane begins. The second is an account of an empty space seen, not of a space you are allowed to use — nobody writes about residents' permits, charges, or enforcement. Two further posts carry a bare "no parking" line, and both are copied listing facts. This does not read like a place to drive to.

Getting inside

Nobody has looked at whether there is a step at the door. The words "threshold" and "ramp" appear nowhere in the thirty posts, and no writer reports getting a wheelchair or a pushchair in — or failing to. We have not inferred anything favourable from what is there: that the window gets opened on warm days, or that there are seats outside, means the door is open, not that the floor runs level. What the posts establish is a ground-floor unit inside a lane, with its outdoor seats up against the road. If you are coming by wheelchair or with a pushchair, it is worth a phone call about the doorway first.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

No writer says whether the lavatory is inside the shop or outside it. Only one post mentions it at all, and only as four words under a photograph: the toilet was clean. Where it was, we do not learn. Another post carries the line "toilet inside" in its header, but that line sits in a copied run of listing facts — no parking, toilet inside, dogs welcome — so we have not counted it as something anyone saw. Nothing at all is written about an accessible toilet, about separate men's and women's, or about how many cubicles there are.
That this is a ground-floor shop is something the address says, not something anyone reports. The words "first floor" appear exactly once per post, always in an address line or the Naver check-in box at the foot of the page; not one writer says anything about the floor from having been there. The words "stairs" and "lift" do not appear once across all thirty posts. Nobody writes that you step straight in, and nobody writes that you step up. What we know about the floor is what the registry says.
Two closing times are written down for weekdays, and the difference is not a disagreement but a period. Three posts from July, August and September 2025 give 08:00–16:00 on weekdays — and the August one also gives a 15:30 last order, which fits. The October 2024 post and every post from October 2025 onward give 08:00–18:00. A single April 2026 post returns to 16:00, and it is also the only post to claim Sunday 12:00–16:00, which reads like stale information copied forward. All of the most recent posts say 18:00. Either way, this is not an evening place: one writer regrets that a six o'clock close rules out meeting after work, one calls the shop famous for its short hours, one found a weekday visit after work impossible and went at the weekend instead, and one warns that with a 17:30 last order you should order early if the urge strikes before you leave the office. Sunday is worth a phone call: one post declares a standing Sunday closure while the line above it gives weekend and holiday hours of 12:00–18:00, and not one writer describes going on a Sunday.
Not one post declares a sponsorship. The words Korean bloggers use for it — sponsored, provided, tester panel, copy fee, a small consideration — appear nowhere in the thirty posts, neither in the body nor in the hashtags at the foot. Four writers state that they paid their own way. Three describe being given something on the house: a taste of the day's batch brew, sips poured for them, an espresso bean quietly swapped for a dearer one — extras rather than a free visit, so we have not treated them as changing who paid. We did remove some posts, though: one listing-style article about a different cafe in another district, into which our address, hours and phone number had been pasted wholesale, and one where our name appears only as an item on someone else's menu. Neither counts. A delivery review, a FAQ-shaped piece that never says what was drunk, and a diary that links to its own review without describing the visit are not counted as visits either.
Two different phone numbers appear. Posts from August and October 2025 give 0507-1319-5024; one post from September 2026 gives 070-7786-5021. We have published the number that two writers wrote. Numbers beginning 0507 are relays Naver puts in front of a shop's own line, so both may reach the same counter — but we have not called to find out. No post mentions booking, and this does not look like a place where a seat can be held.
