Japanese

Oya Seongsu

오야 성수 Oya is the Japanese word for 'parent', the prefix in oyakodon (the 'parent-and-child' chicken-and-egg bowl) that one blogger points to; Seongsu is the neighborhood.

A Japanese rice-bowl shop in the alley behind Blue Bottle, off exit 1 of Ttukseom station. Gyudon, oyakodon, butadon and torched jeyuk bowls are 10,000 won; the salmon-pesto bowl is 14,900, the garlic steak bowl 18,900, and there is a sirloin steak (21,900 for 200 g). You order on a tablet at the table, and each bowl comes on a tray with miso soup and three small sides. Two posts from June and August 2026 give weekday hours of 11:30-20:00 with weekends closed; earlier posts said Monday-Saturday until 21:00, closed Sundays. We read 30 posts from August 2025 to October 2026; 25 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. It is close to the subway. Fifteen posts say it is an easy walk from Ttukseom station exit 1, putting it at 1 to 5 minutes; one guessed about 10.
  2. You order from your seat: eight posts describe a tablet at the table or a kiosk. One noted that orders were taken in advance while people waited outside.
  3. Portions come up again and again: ten posts say the meat or toppings were plentiful, one glad not to have upsized. Only one post, about the cream udon, found the portion a little small.
  4. Eleven posts describe specific acts of service. Five mention a mouthwash handed over with the garlic steak bowl; others mention a chair brought out for people waiting outside, and a cola split into two glasses of ice.

  1. Lunchtime fills up. One post waited: full at exactly noon, about 15 minutes to a seat and nearly 30 to the food. One walked straight in on a weekday evening; three got a table but said a queue forms soon after.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

It is close to the subway. Fifteen posts say it is an easy walk from Ttukseom station exit 1, putting it at 1 to 5 minutes; one guessed about 10.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 2 · no 1 (of 25 posts read)
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read)

No one described which floor it is on from experience. Copied addresses say ground floor, one says second floor. That means nobody wrote about it, not that we know the answer.

Nobody mentioned a step at the entrance, stairs, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. We don't know.

Accounts of the restroom differ: two posts say it is inside (one says unisex), one says you go out a door and down a corridor, and one says 'through the steel door inside, then right', which could be either.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • The nine posts mentioning a Christmas tree and snowman decorations all date from November-December 2025; that was seasonal, not permanent.
  • Opinions on size split: five posts call it small, two call it roomy. Seat counts vary from 'about 7-8 seats' to 'about five two-tops and five four-tops'.
  • Company varies: four posts went as a couple, two with friends, one alone, one with coworkers, and one with a child.
  • Opening hours changed. Fifteen posts from November 2025 to April 2026, plus an older-looking post published in July 2026, give 11:30-21:00 with a 15:00-17:00 break, closed Sundays; two posts from June and August 2026 give weekdays 11:30-20:00, closed Saturday and Sunday. A September 2026 post says Monday-Saturday until 20:00, so Saturday is unclear. All of these are copied from the listing; check before going.
  • On price the posts lean favorable: seven call 10,000-won bowls good value for Seongsu, and one said the steak bowl charges what it can but the beef justifies it. Three posts give the steak bowl at 18,900 won and one at 18,000, so the current price is unclear.
  • Six posts list the phone number as 0507-1376-7378; one gives 02-2232-8930 and one says there is none. Nobody wrote about whether reservations are taken.
  • Ten posts from November-December 2025 and one from September 2026 carry the same hashtag set, and phrases like 'a modern take on Japanese home cooking' and 'the owner's friendly service and thoughtfulness' recur across them; one of them discloses sponsorship. We counted each post's own eating record but not the boilerplate. Three posts say they paid for their own meals.
