Mahachai

마하차이 서울숲점 Mahachai Seoulsupjeom Mahachai is the name of a town near Bangkok, Thailand, known for its seafood.

Data as of · Published ·

Mahachai Seoul Forest is a Thai restaurant on the second floor of an older building, down a side street near exit 7 of Ttukseom Station. You order from a QR code on the table: crab curry over rice (15,000 won), beef noodle soup (11,000 won), pad thai, omelette pad thai, nasi goreng (12,000 won). A meal runs 11,000 to 15,000 won a person, and shrimp crackers and pickled radish come when you sit down. The original branch is a separate restaurant on Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu, and some diners mixed the two up. We read 30 posts from December 2025 to September 2026; 28 were about this restaurant.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Nine posts say it is easy to reach by subway: two to five minutes' walk from exit 7 of Ttukseom Station (one measured 195 m), or about two minutes from exit 1 of Seoul Forest Station. One family walked all the way from Wangsimni Station.
  2. Whether you wait depends on when you go. Three posts waited: one stood in line about 20 minutes at the lunch peak, one only got in on the third try after finding a line twice, and one warned you'll almost surely wait unless you come very early. Four posts walked straight in — first through the door at weekend lunch, just after 2 p.m. on a weekend, early weekday lunch, and around 8 p.m. on a weekday.
  3. Fourteen posts call the portions large. Of the nasi goreng: nearly one and a half servings, and one diner thought they'd been given a double portion by mistake. Another ate half and took the rest home. One said the owner used at least three bowls of rice for a single plate. One post, after a bowl of beef noodle soup, thought it was on the small side.
  4. No post found it expensive; eight said it was good value for Seongsu. A December 2025 post said the crab-curry rice bowl at 15,000 won was a real bargain, and a July 2026 visitor said the same about the noodle soup. Noodle soup and pad thai have a weekday lunch price until 2 p.m.
  5. You order through a QR code on the table — eleven posts describe it. Payment happens on your phone too, and each dish has options such as less spicy or no nuts.
  6. Seven posts found the food spicy. The crab-curry rice bowl comes with chili oil on top, and one post warned it would be quite hot for anyone sensitive to spice; tom yum and som tam were also called spicy. A family with a child ordered the curry bowl mild and said it was just right for the kid.
  7. Seven posts mention shrimp crackers and pickled radish brought to the table when you sit down. One diner asked for more crackers and got them; another found sweets at the counter on the way out.
  8. Five posts went with friends, and many describe a group ordering curry, noodle soup and pad thai to share. Others came with parents or a child, with a partner, or with coworkers for lunch.

These are raw counts, not percentages. Someone who did not mention something is not someone who disagreed.

The most ordered dish is puphatpongkeori-deopbap (푸팟퐁커리덮밥) — 15 of 27 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 27 posts

There seems to be no parking of its own. One post that came by car said there was nowhere to park and used a public lot; another said parking didn't look possible. Other posts only copy directions to nearby public lots, and one copied block even says parking is available.

The restaurant is not underground; it is on the second floor. Nine posts describe going up to it. Directions in the posts: take the stairs on the left side of the building up to the second floor, or go in by the Seongsu Budu sign and up one flight. It is easy to miss — one post says to look for the orange sign.

No post mentions a lift. Two posts list having to walk up to the second floor as a drawback, which we read as there being no elevator.

No one wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That doesn't mean there's no barrier — we simply don't know. Posts do say you climb stairs to the second floor.

The toilet is outside the restaurant — four posts say so. It's on the stair landing between the first and second floors, and one post explains you check the door code posted inside by the exit before heading out. A January visitor noted it was freezing out there. The only mention of separate men's and women's toilets comes from a copied info block.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • One post booked by phone (02-468-7799) before going, in December 2025. Other posts only copy a note that phone bookings are taken, so we didn't count those. Whether they take bookings for the busy lunch hour, we don't know.
  • Prices have gone up. Posts from February to May 2026 list omelette pad thai at 12,500 won, pad thai at 11,500 won and morning glory at 9,500 won; posts from July to September list 13,000, 12,000 and 10,000 won. An April 2026 post noted that several dishes cost more than on its 2025 visit. Where posts give 10,000 won for beef noodle soup, they disagree on whether that's the weekday lunch price or an old price.
  • Posts disagree on size: five called it roomy, four said it isn't big. One guessed it seats fifteen to twenty. Tables range from two-seaters to six-seaters, and one post found a couple of tables suited to eating alone.
  • On speed, two posts say food came fast — everything within about five minutes of ordering — and one says there was a gap between the first dish and the next.
  • One February 2026 post says the restaurant moved from a spot across from the Seongdong sports center. Every post we read, from December 2025 on, describes the current address (19-4 Wangsimni-ro 8-gil, second floor), and another post says the sports center is across the street from the current shop — so we can't tell when or where it moved from.
  • Eleven posts give the same hours, 11:00 to 21:00, and seven give last orders at 20:20 — but all of them copy the listing or the sign out front. No post reports a midday break or a regular day off from experience. One post ate there on New Year's Day 2026; another copied a notice that it closes on Chuseok day itself.
  • There is a separate original Mahachai on Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu. One post went to the wrong branch by mistake, and a couple of posts about this one call it the original in their titles. One post that only said Mahachai in Seongsu couldn't be pinned to either branch, so we left it out.
