Ihwasoo Traditional Yukgaejang, Seoul Forest IT Valley branch, is two or three minutes' walk from exit 4 at Ttukseom, on the ground-floor parade of an office block. It is one of a large national chain, and it shares that parade with a bean-sprout soup house and a cold-noodle house. Its customers are the people who work in the building and around it — eleven writers call it their office lunch. The menu is one soup opened out into variants, and the choice is really rice or noodles. The plain soup is ₩10,000, the noodle version the same. Being in an office block, it closes on Saturdays and Sundays. We read twenty-three posts, from 2017 to 2026.

• 육개장칼국수12 ate it
  yukgaejang-kalguksu₩10,000

  **Twelve of the twenty-three people who ate here ordered this — more than the soup the sign is named for.** It is the same yukgaejang broth with knife-cut wheat noodles in it; three writers use the short name yukkal. One puts it plainly: same broth, the question is only rice or noodles. Three describe the noodles as thick and springy. **They do not agree, though:** one found it thinner and weaker than the plain soup and would go back to rice, while another called it a glorious combination. Two finished the noodles and then ordered a bowl of rice to put in what was left.

  **₩10,000** — three posts, from March, August and September 2024, all give the same figure. Nobody writes a price after that, so **we cannot say what it costs now.** One post puts extra rice at ₩1,000. It arrives very hot; one writer advises using the side dish to cool it.

  The dish on the sign; nine people ordered it. **Everyone mentions the spring onion first** — "afloat with it, more onion than anything," "less a beef soup than an onion soup," "cut in good thick lengths." Four make a point of how much there is. The beef is shredded along the grain and there is egg in it. **On heat they converge on "pleasantly spicy"** — five say so, and only one calls it aggressive, "like instant-noodle seasoning." **Six ate it as a hangover cure.**

  Soft tofu, crumbled into the soup; three people ordered it. "Plenty of it, broken up through the broth," writes one; another chose it simply for liking tofu. A third records the arc: **it seems mild at first, and then your nose starts running.**

  **The two prices do not agree.** A post from 19 March 2025 says ₩11,000; another from **24 March, five days later, says ₩12,000.** Whether it went up or one writer misread, **we cannot tell** — so both are here.

  The yukgaejang with ham, sweet potato noodles and rice cake added. "Ham and meat and onion piled in, with glass noodles and tteok," one writes; another tastes "yukgaejang, jjamppong and army stew all at once." Two ordered it, both **in winter.** Ordered as a set it comes with three dumplings, by one account.

  The white-broth version, without the chilli. Only one person ordered it, and **had it both ways** — the boiled pork is soft and clean-tasting, they say, and would suit an older person or a child; but there was, personally, a daunting quantity of spring onion. Another writer only notes the curiosity, and files it away for next time.

  A soup house that is not only soup: there is tteok-manduguk too. One writer ordered it with colleagues and reports **three or four large dumplings with a bed of rice cake underneath — a good deal of food.**

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

Getting inside

One post says a pushchair got in, and that is the whole of what we know. A writer who came with a baby records that the pushchair fitted, to her relief, and lunch was good — her own experience, in her own words. No post says anything about a wheelchair. That it is on the ground floor, and that one pushchair went in, is the extent of it; whether there is a lip at the door, how wide the aisles are, whether the lavatory can be reached — nobody writes. That is not a finding of no access; it is a finding that nobody looked.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 19 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

When the posts appeared

What we do not know

• Twenty-three posts, eighteen people — one writer accounts for six of them. They run from March 2023 to January 2026, each a separate meal, so they stay in the count. But five of the nine "I came back" accounts are that one person, so the notes above count people rather than posts.
• It sits inside an office block, and weekends and evenings are where people get caught out. Six posts say it closes Saturday and Sunday. The afternoon break runs 15:00 to 17:30 — two and a half hours, given by six writers — so lunch and dinner are separate trades here. Friday ends at three in the afternoon (11:00–15:00) — two writers, a year apart. It is easy to read that as the afternoon break, but on Friday three o'clock is the end of the day, not a pause in it. One post puts Friday's last order at 14:30. On the closing hour the posts split between eight, nine and ten at night, and sorting them by date does not resolve it — if you are going in the evening, ring first (02-6965-7222). Two older posts say it used to open until five at weekends, so the weekend closure looks like a later change.
• The lavatory is in the building rather than in the restaurant — two posts say so, and both are copying the listing, so we have not counted them. Nobody writes about using it: where in the building, whether it is split by sex, whether there is a code — nobody says. That is not a finding of no lavatory; it is a finding that nobody looked.
• No post declares sponsorship. Nine say they paid; one says the company did — not the restaurant's money, but not the writer's either. The other thirteen say nothing. It is a chain, so branches bleed into the posts and we read for it: one is titled "a soup house, but the boiled pork is good too" — except the pork was eaten at the Jangseungbaegi branch, as the writer says herself, adding that it varies by branch. Another compares the broth with the Yangjae branch and finds this one inconsistent. Neither was counted as ours.
