Hyundaiok Seoul Forest is a Jeonju-style bean-sprout soup house one to three minutes' walk from exit 4 at Ttukseom, on the ground-floor parade of an office block — the same parade as a yukgaejang house and a cold-noodle house. The soup comes two ways: the Nambu-market version arrives at a drinkable temperature with the poached egg in its own bowl; the boiled version comes at a rolling boil with the egg already in. Twenty-two writers explain the difference. It is ₩8,500, and rice and sprouts are refilled free. There is seaweed on every table. The customers work in the building and around it, and twelve came to mend a hangover. It opens at ten and shuts between half past three and five. We read twenty-eight posts, from December 2022 to September 2026.

  **There are two, and choosing is half the point** — twenty-two posts explain the difference. · **Jeonju Nambu-market style** — the poached egg comes **in its own bowl**, and the soup arrives at a drinkable temperature rather than boiling. **You are meant to spoon broth into the egg bowl and stir it there, not tip the egg into the soup**; eight writers pass the instruction on. · **The boiled style** — egg in the pot, arriving at a furious boil. Thicker, and nuttier, by several accounts. **You choose the heat** (mild or hot) — five mention it, and one who asked for hot reports that hot is what it is. Left unasked, it lands around the heat of a packet of Shin Ramyun, says another. **Rice and bean sprouts are refilled free** — one writer found out late: "wait, the rice and sprouts were free?" **There is seaweed on every table, as much as you want** — nine posts say so, one glad it comes in individual packets. One passes on the history: before the chain, when a grandmother ran it, you brought your own seaweed from the market and queued with it.

  **Three steps up.** ₩7,000 in a January 2023 post, **₩8,000** in two from April 2024, **₩8,500** in September 2026. One writer is simply happy that eight thousand won buys this; another puts the main courses at eight to ten thousand. **Boiled squid on top is ₩2,000** and six writers press it on you — "the squid is worth it, and there's plenty of it," "put the squid in, no argument." One only noticed the option afterwards.

  Sold by the pair; three ordered it. Two treat it as something to drink alongside. One writer lists it with the tteokgalbi, the kimchi pancake and the fried dumplings as the drinking end of the menu.

  A bean-sprout soup house that also does pork soup. Two ordered it and **both liked it** — a broth with some heat and real depth, generous with the pork, a filling meal; hot enough to clear a head without being punishing. One writer, expecting only the one dish, was surprised to find pork soup, steak and bibimbap on the board.

  Summer only. **Two ordered it and they could not disagree more.** One recommends it for an office lunch because it arrives fast. The other put **"the worst cold soy noodles"** in the title: the worst they have had, a broth clearly out of a carton with not even ice in it, noodles you could manage without teeth — **"have I ever left this much food?"** The same writer concedes the point against herself: ordering cold soy noodles in a bean-sprout soup house was her own doing.

  **People drink here in the afternoon.** One writer noticed that most of the neighbouring tables had makgeolli, beer or soju out alongside the soup; another had the pressed pork with a daytime drink. There is a squid broth for drinking, too.

  One August 2025 post copies the board out: **pressed pork 200g ₩10,000, a whole boiled squid ₩14,000, a plate of boiled dumplings ₩5,000, kimchi pancake ₩7,000, chilli fried dumplings ₩6,000.** They come from that one post, so we cannot say they still hold.

  There for whoever cannot take the heat. One person ordered it alongside the soup, and writes nothing about how it was.

Parking

3 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Nine posts bring parking up; two actually parked. Seven are copying a header line — free parking for an hour with a meal — so we have not counted them. The two who drove write: "the building has parking, so we parked easily and walked in," and "eat here and you get an hour's validation for the underground car park." It is the block's underground car park rather than a space at the door, and a meal buys an hour — all nine agree on that much. If you mean to stay longer than two hours, ask what the overage costs.

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

Getting inside

No post says whether a wheelchair or a pushchair can get in. The words — wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, threshold — do not appear anywhere in the twenty-eight posts. That it is on the ground floor, and that nobody mentions stairs, is the extent of it; whether there is a lip at the door, how wide the aisles are, nobody looked. That is not a finding of no access; it is a finding that we do not know.

What we do not know

• The whole of this restaurant is which of the two you order. The Nambu-market version comes with the poached egg in a separate bowl and a broth that is not scalding, so you can start straight away. The house instruction, passed on by eight writers, is counter-intuitive: do not tip the egg into the soup — spoon soup into the egg bowl and stir it there. One writer's reaction: how odd. The boiled version arrives at a furious boil with the egg already inside, and is thicker. Cold day and you want heat, take the boiled; short lunch hour, take the market version. One writer chose the boiled at ten below; another found that it thickens as it sits, and liked it the more for that. One advises tasting the broth before breaking the yolk into it. You choose the heat, too — unasked, it lands about where instant noodles do.
• People come here to mend. Twelve give a hangover as the reason, three of them arriving in the morning after the night before — one straight from checking out of a hotel. But people also drink here in daylight: one writer notices that most of the nearby tables had makgeolli, beer or soju out with the soup, and another had the pressed pork with a daytime drink. One post's title manages both at once — drinking and curing, in the same sitting. The board carries tteokgalbi, kimchi pancake, buckwheat rolls, boiled dumplings and a whole poached squid.
• The hours have changed three times, so an old post will send you on a wasted trip. Sunday most of all. From January 2023 to June 2024 it opened at seven on Sunday mornings — four posts say so. From September 2024 to January 2025 it closed on alternate Sundays (three posts), and from August 2025 every Sunday (three). The table carries only the current answer, closed Sunday. Saturday has crept earlier too, from nine at night to half past eight to eight, which is why two Saturday rows stand there — by date, eight o'clock is the new one. One thing has not moved: thirteen posts give the afternoon break as 15:30 to 17:00, word for word, from 2023 to 2026. Arrive at four and the door is shut. There are two phone numbers — 02-6968-0900 from 2023 to 2025, and 0507-1429-7383 in 2026; the second is a relay number, so both may ring.
• The lavatory is the building's, not the restaurant's — three posts say so, and two of them looked: "there is a back door, and the lavatory is just inside the building past it — no distance at all," and "it is a restaurant inside the IT Valley block, and the building's lavatory was clean too." That the restaurant has a back door, and that it is the short way, is something only this place's posts tell us. Whether it is split by sex, nobody writes.
• It is on the ground floor. Several posts give the unit — 103, ground floor of the IT Valley block — and not one mentions stairs. One writer notes a second, back door, and that the building's lavatory is close if you go out that way.
• No post declares sponsorship. Eight say they paid; the other twenty say nothing. One writer's friend runs the place, though — "went to see a friend and get a late breakfast at the same time, at the Hyundaiok my friend runs," in his own words. It is not sponsorship and no money is mentioned, but it cannot carry the same weight as a stranger's account, so we have not counted the lines in it that lean towards business being good. And being a chain, other branches get in: one post's praise for the tteokgalbi turns out to be a freebie at the Yeouido branch, and two of the thirty posts we were given were about the Wirye and Sangam branches and are out altogether.
