Gamasot Chueotang is an old loach-soup house on a lane in Seongsu. You take your shoes off at the door. A bowl is ₩11,000, and the same kitchen sells chicken ginseng soup at ₩15,000. It sits away from the café streets, and six posts reach for the same two words: local, and old. There is room for two or three cars in front. Closed Sundays. The posts we read run from April 2019 to July 2026.

  Cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, salted squid and stir-fried anchovies. **Not many dishes.** Refills come, but you ask for them rather than help yourself, by one account

Getting inside

No post says whether a wheelchair or a pushchair gets in. Three do say you take your shoes off, which usually means a raised step at the entrance. How high, and whether there is any way round it, nobody writes.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 13 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

When the posts appeared

What we do not know

• Eleven posts, eight people. One writer accounts for four of them, spread across 2019 and 2020, and three of those are about the chicken soup. Four of the nine 'came back' counts are his alone, and the chicken soup really has only two opinions behind it. He closes each post with the same line: that he paid for it himself.
• The same text appears on two blogs. On 31 March 2026 an identical write-up went up on a Tistory blog and a Naver one, word for word. One of the two belongs to a civil-engineering contractor, and both end in strings of link-exchange requests and unrelated business links. Neither reads as an account of a visit, so both are out of the denominator — along with the opening hours they give.
• The opening hours differ from post to post. August 2024: every day, eleven to nine. Another post the same month: weekdays eleven to nine, Saturdays closing at three. April 2026: ten to eight on weekdays, ten to half past two on Saturdays. Three posts, three answers. On Sundays being closed, four agree, and one adds public holidays. That Saturday ends early, two agree — only the hour is in dispute. Ring if you mean to go late on a Saturday. One thing is clear: there is no afternoon break, and one writer came precisely because everywhere else was shut at three.
• Nobody reports waiting. One arrived near closing to an empty room; another came after lunch to find a single other table. But none of the eleven came at the height of lunchtime, so we do not know what it is like then. One does note how many of the lunch customers are drinking with their soup.
• Not one of the eleven mentions a toilet — inside or out in the building.
• One floor, at street level. None of the eleven mentions stairs, an upstairs or a basement. Since shoes come off at the door there is very likely a raised step there, but nobody measures it.
• Few posts say who they came with — two with colleagues, one with a friend. The other eight do not raise it. It reads like a place where people eat a bowl alone at lunch, though nobody says outright that they did. One writer notes that the tables are for four and can be moved together.
