Donbyeorak Matjip is a 'pot-lid' pork grill 62 metres from exit 5 of Ttukseom station, on the first floor above the street at 24 Sangwon-gil. It has been there since 1999, by one writer's account. The meat is Korean pork — belly, neck and jowl — and all three cost the same (₩18,000 for 200g, up from ₩17,000 in the spring of 2026); it is cut and weighed to order. A wide iron lid holds the meat in the middle with kimchi, bean sprouts, onion, squash, mushroom and rice cake around it, and a pot of steamed egg, a kimchi stew and a plate of seasoned squid arrive free and go on the same lid. Leaves for wrapping come by the basket, refilled on request. Instead of a bowl of rice you can order a small pot cooked to order (₩1,000) that leaves scorched rice for the end. The room seats up to seventy, which is why the office workers nearby know it as a place for a work dinner. At lunch it turns into a ssambap house (11:00–14:00). Open weekdays 11:00–22:00 with a break from 14:00 to 16:30, closed Saturday and Sunday. The twenty-six posts we read run from July 2025 to August 2026.

  **Lettuce, perilla, cabbage and bok choy by the basket, refilled if you run out.** Twenty-two posts mention it — the most-repeated thing about this place.

  Two writers say they have never seen a grill house give out this much; three that there is no need to ask for more; two point out that other places now charge for it. One was offered a refill and could not finish the first basket. Two note the obvious reason: at lunch this is a ssambap house, so the leaves are already there.

  **The dish the place runs on.** A portion is 200g, or ₩8,500 per 100g. It was ₩17,000 through 2025 and **became ₩18,000 in the spring of 2026.** It is **cut and weighed to order** at the counter.

  Eighteen ate it and none complained. Six call it thick, and four say the iron lid gives it a crisp outside and a juicy middle — one writes that it is nothing like thin-cut belly. Eight watched it being cut: weighed in front of them, which one says raised her trust tenfold. **Nineteen of the posts call the portions large and not one calls them small.**

  **They come with the meat, at no charge**: a pot of steamed egg, a kimchi stew with pork in it, and a plate of seasoned squid — all set on the hot lid so they stay warm to the end. Sixteen writers were served them.

  **This is where the writing agrees hardest.** The kimchi stew draws the loudest praise — one calls it the best in the neighbourhood, another says it could carry a restaurant of its own — and seven writers register surprise that dishes normally charged for are simply included. One had looked for steamed egg on the menu and realised it was not there because it comes free. The squid is grilled in the pork fat. **How long any of this stays free, we cannot say.**

  Eleven ate it. Two say it is fried in the kitchen and brought out; two mention the baking paper laid under it so it does not catch. Three note kimchi in it, and one that cheese goes on if you ask. One writer was told by the owner not to order rice because this was coming. One found it a little bland.

  Eight had it and not one was disappointed. One notes it takes about ten minutes. Two mention seeing the pots being set up by the door as you come in, and four tell you to order it instead of plain rice.

  One ordered it alongside the belly and found it equally fresh. Another did not order it but noticed the price and said she would next time. **Three writers spotted that it costs the same.**

  One writer ordered it for two and enjoyed watching the sauce reduce over a high flame. **Only two of the twenty-six actually ate a lunch set** — the rest simply pass on that it exists.

Parking

2 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

There is no car park of its own, and where to leave the car depends on which post you read. Five posts carry the same sentence about the Seoul Forest A Tower opposite at ₩1,500 per ten minutes — evidently the restaurant's own line — while one names a different private lot at ₩1,800 per half hour. Two writers actually parked. One found the nearby lots too dear, searched for a public one, left the car at the Seongsu culture centre and walked ten minutes: free for the first half hour, then ₩1,000, and with a 50% discount she paid ₩1,700. The other reports the same terms. The cheapest answer and the closest answer are not the same — opposite the door costs ₩1,500 per ten minutes; ten minutes' walk away is free for thirty. It is a minute from the station, and people drink with this meal: better to leave the car.

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

Getting inside

We know there is a lift; we do not know whether a wheelchair or a pushchair can get in. How wide the lift door is, whether there is a step at the entrance, whether there is room to turn inside, whether the seating is chairs or floor — none of the twenty-six says. Only one writer took the stairs, so we do not even know how many there are. That is not a no; it means we do not know. What we can say is that a lift at a first-floor restaurant in Seongsu is rare, and that twenty posts describe a room seating seventy, which suggests the aisles are not tight — though we have not measured them either.

What we do not know

• How old the place is depends on who you ask. Posts variously say twenty-five years (November 2025), twenty-six (August 2025 and February 2026), twenty-seven (two posts in July 2026) and twenty-nine (April 2026). Only one gives a year: it has been trading since 1999. If that is right, 2026 makes twenty-seven, and neither twenty-five nor twenty-nine fits. The twenty-six and twenty-seven appear to come from the restaurant's own wall — a shop blurb quoted in an August 2025 post already says twenty-six. We read it as twenty-seven without having checked it; that it is an old place is not in doubt. Two posts note that the district has certified it as an exemplary restaurant.
• It is up one floor and there is a lift. Three writers saw it for themselves — one mentions it and then takes the stairs anyway, since it is only one floor. In Seongsu, a post that mentions a lift at a first-floor restaurant is rare enough to be worth recording. But the width of the lift door, whether there is a step at the entrance, whether there is room to turn a wheelchair inside — none of the twenty-six says. That is not a yes; it means the check stops at the lift door. If it matters, ring first — there are two numbers. The licensing record gives 02-498-9468; the number on Naver and in fourteen of the posts, 0507-1356-9468, appears to be a relay (the last four digits match).
• Not one of the twenty-six mentions a lavatory — whether it is inside the restaurant or out in the building's corridor, whether it is split by gender, whether it is locked. These are posts that count the side dishes one by one, name four kinds of leaf and copy out parking rates. That is not a no; it means we do not know. It is on the first floor of a building with other tenants, so a shared corridor lavatory is plausible — but that is our guess, and guesses do not go on the page.
• Nobody reports queueing. Three do report a full room: nearly every table taken late on a weekday, a work dinner already running at seven on a Wednesday, too many people to photograph the place. With seventy seats a wait looks unlikely, but what we checked is only that nobody wrote about one, and that three found it busy on weekday evenings. You can book — nine posts mention it and four did. For a group that looks like the safer route. And note that it closes at weekends entirely: eight posts give Saturday and Sunday as the rest days. One April post says it opens on Saturdays; it is the only one.
• Two posts declare a hosted visit and the other twenty-four say nothing. The two are from February and June 2026, one naming the campaign platform outright. Saying nothing is not the same as taking nothing. Beyond that, the same sentences recur: a line about using only Korean pork at peak freshness appears in eight posts, and 'up to seventy people' in sixteen, in near-identical wording. That is not evidence of payment but evidence of a house blurb — both sentences sit in the shop's own copy, quoted in an August 2025 post. What we can say is that numbers taken from those sentences are the restaurant's, while things each writer saw for herself are ours: the basket of leaves (twenty-two), the size of the portions (nineteen), the free dishes on the lid (sixteen). It is also worth knowing how the writing bunches — ten of the twenty-six fall between April and June 2026, two of them hosted.
