Cheongjeongok

청정옥 Cheongjeong means clean and pure, and -ok is the old suffix for an eating house.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

Cheongjeongok is a beef shabu-shabu restaurant in the Shinhan IT Tower at 19 Sangwon-gil, Seongsu-dong, a short walk from Ttukseom Station exit 5. The beef set is 14,000 won per person and the special set with shrimp and mushrooms is 15,000; you simmer vegetables, dumplings and rice cake, then finish with noodles and rice porridge. Side dishes are just salad and water kimchi. A weekday lunch set (11,000 won, later 12,000) existed through 2025, but posts from January 2026 say it is gone. We read 30 posts from 23 February 2025 to 4 September 2026; 26 of them describe an actual meal there.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff come to the table to cook the closing porridge — seven posts said so, describing them stirring egg into the leftover broth on request. One February 2025 post added that this happened because the room was quiet, and that on busy days you make it yourself.
  2. Six posts said they got refills on request — water kimchi, bean sprouts, broth. One said the owner brought more sprouts without being asked.
  3. Expect a wait at the weekday lunch peak. Six posts mention queuing; the times given are 10 minutes at lunch and 20 minutes on a Saturday at 6–7 p.m. behind three families. One post says it starts filling at 11:30, and one arrived around 11:30 and walked straight in. Three posts mention a waiting area at the door, where you write your name and party size on a list or whiteboard. Two posts that came at 3:30 and 4 p.m. found it quiet.
  4. The room runs much deeper than it looks from the door; fourteen posts called it spacious, with tables past a long corridor. Group seating is mixed: a June 2026 post saw eight-person tables, but a July 2025 post had a party of six split four and two, and advised booking ahead for groups.

  1. No post called it expensive; fifteen said it was good value. One party of five paid 108,000 won for the beef set. One post found two side dishes (salad and water kimchi) a bit thin.

Posts saying you can park8 of 26 posts

Eight posts noted that parking is available, rare for Seongsu: the building's underground lot is free for 1 hour 30 minutes, then paid. None of them actually said they drove there.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 26 posts read)

No post described the floor or any stairs from experience; the "1st floor" appears only in copied addresses.

Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we don't know, not that it's fine or not. One post came with a child but said nothing about a stroller.

Only one post mentioned the toilet: it is the building's restroom, reached through a side door, and was clean. No one said whether there is one inside or whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices depend on when the post was written. The weekday lunch set was 11,000 won in posts from February to May 2025 and 12,000 from September to December 2025; a January 2026 post says it has been dropped and an August 2026 visitor found none. Today a meal should be read as 14,000 or 15,000 won.
  • Opening hours: fifteen posts give weekdays 11:00–22:00 and weekends 11:00–21:00, and seven say there is no afternoon break. One post alone says weekends close two hours early. Two say it closes only for Chuseok and Lunar New Year. Most of these were copied from listing blocks.
  • On reservations, one post booked ahead and found the table already set; another only guessed that booking would get a group seated together. Several posts gave the same phone number, 02-468-3800.
  • Two posts say the restaurant moved once, but neither gives the old address or when. All 30 posts we read are about the current location.
  • One February 2025 post found the vegetable plate cut back to napa cabbage, with mushrooms, pumpkin, onion and coloured rice cakes missing. Later posts list bok choy and mushrooms again, so we can't tell whether it was a passing change.
