BISTRO RYU

비스트로류 Biseuteuro Ryu A bistro named after the owner-chef's family name, Ryu.

Compiled from 16 blog posts read in fullSources →

A French home-cooking bistro on an upper floor of a white building in a Seongsu-dong alley, a short walk from Ttukseom Station exit 5. Two posts say a single chef handles everything from orders to cooking. The signature is a cheese-smothered beef stew (52,900 won in 2026) alongside pastas around 22,900 won, with lunch dishes at 13,900 and 16,900 won; wine, draught beer and soju make it a drinking spot too. We read 22 posts from 30 September 2025 to 1 October 2026: one about a different bistro in Fukuoka was discarded, and the house's own two posts plus three list or template posts were not counted as visits, leaving 16 first-hand visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Free banana and popcorn arrive once you sit down — 8 of the 16 visits mention it. The banana comes with sauce and coconut flakes; one writer asked and was told it was raspberry-mango sauce, others took it for strawberry jam. One post says the room smells of popcorn as you walk in.
  2. Walkable from the subway: 7 posts walked from Ttukseom Station exit 5, noting 2, 2, 3 and under 5 minutes. Two give the same directions — past Starbucks, then turn into the alley at Paik's Coffee.
  3. Orders go through a QR code at the table — 6 posts mention it, and one notes a paper menu at each table too. Three posts say the house-made pickles come only if you ask; six praise them.
  4. Soups and stews carry a gentle heat: 5 posts found the squash soup, onion soup, pork stew or basil pasta slightly spicy. None complained.

  1. No post calls it expensive; 4 say the prices are easy on the wallet. For a sense of the bill: four colleagues spent over 200,000 won, and two women ordered 50,300 won of pasta, stew, soup, baguette and cola and couldn't finish. Three posts call the portions large.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Walkable from the subway: 7 posts walked from Ttukseom Station exit 5, noting 2, 2, 3 and under 5 minutes. Two give the same directions — past Starbucks, then turn into the alley at Paik's Coffee.

Toilet inside4 of 16 posts

It's upstairs, not underground. 9 posts describe climbing up; 3 call it the second floor and 5 the third. One explains that if you count the half-basement as the first floor, it's the third — so they mean the same spot. Two posts note a bar on the ground floor.

No one wrote about wheelchair or stroller access. Five posts did climb stairs, and one says there is no elevator — only an outside staircase. Nobody mentioned an entrance step.

The restroom is inside the restaurant — 4 posts say so, one placing it just right of the kitchen; three mention mouthwash laid out. Nobody said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 21 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up: the beef stew was 49,900 won in October–November 2025 posts and 52,900 won from March 2026. Other dishes aren't recorded often enough to tell.
  • No post mentions waiting — that means no one wrote about it, not that there is never a wait. Several went at quiet hours (right at 5:30 after the break, just before the break, mid-afternoon); one advises booking for dinner. On Christmas Day 2025 it took reservations only and walk-ins were turned away, but that was a single day.
  • Opening hours as two posts give them identically: weekdays 11:30–23:00, Saturday 12:30–22:00, break 14:30–17:30, last order 21:30 weekdays and 20:30 Saturday, closed Sunday. Two posts give a 23:30 weekday close and one a 22:00 last order — all copied from listing info. Seven posts say it is closed on Sundays.
  • Four posts list the same phone number, 0507-1303-1796. Several say bookings go through Naver Booking or CatchTable; 2 posts actually booked ahead.
  • Several posts mention a rooftop, but always from the menu, an info block or hearsay — no one actually ate up there. One relays that it doesn't open on rainy days.
  • Opinions on size differ: 2 posts found the tables well spaced, 1 called the place small. One mentions four-seat tables and a big table for five or six.
  • Six of the visit posts carry the identical hashtag string in the same order, and only one of them discloses sponsorship. We counted them as visits because they record what was ordered and paid, but we don't know who paid. Two posts say they paid themselves. The restaurant's own two blog posts were not counted.
