Baekse Samgyetang Gangdong-jeom
백세삼계탕 강동점 Baekse means 'a hundred years of age', a wish for long life; samgyetang is whole young chicken stewed with ginseng and glutinous rice.
Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →
A samgyetang house on Yangjae-daero 1401, between Dunchon-dong Station and Gildong crossroads. The ground floor is parking and a waiting area; you eat upstairs on the second floor. The signature is a thick, yellow chicken soup made with sanghwang mushroom and nuts at 19,000 won, alongside an herbal version (22,000), flame-grilled dakgalbi (17,000) and chicken-feet pyeonyuk (13,000). Kimchi, radish and pickles are refilled from a self-serve bar. We read 30 posts dated 24 March to 22 October 2026; 25 describe an actual meal. We set aside one post about a different branch and one about a gym.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Waits depend on timing. Four posts waited or were told to: one in August 2026 queued 30 to 40 minutes, having been turned away twice before because food had run out; one gave up on the first boknal day when quoted an hour; one found a July weekday lunch so packed that the group would only be seated once everyone had arrived; another waited at peak lunch. By contrast, one October post walked in on a Saturday evening without booking and found plenty of seats.
- There is somewhere to wait: ten posts note a waiting area on the ground floor or at the entrance, one specifically mentioning chairs.
- Side dishes are refilled from a self-serve bar, noted by 17 posts; many single out the kimchi, one writer going back three times. The sign saying the kimchi is domestic is the restaurant's own claim, so we don't rely on it.
- Writing a receipt review gets you a free portion of chicken-feet pyeonyuk; five posts mention it and three actually received it. A party of six wrote that staff had prepared two portions, so they wrote a second review.
1 more
- Five posts went as a couple, four with family and two in a group. Several remark on how many older diners there were; one family with an 8-year-old and an 8-month-old found a high chair.

Parking
19 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

19 of the 25 meal posts mention parking: the whole ground floor of the building is a car park. Its size is disputed, one post estimating about 15 spaces and another about 30. A post from the mid-July boknal holiday found it already full; an August post mentions an attendant directing cars.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 7 of 25 posts |
|---|---|
| Lift to the floor | yes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read) |
| Step-free access | yes 0 · no 2 (of 25 posts read) |
| Toilet inside | 4 of 25 posts |
You eat on the second floor; seven posts describe going up to it. Four posts mention coffee being available, on the ground floor or after the meal. Six describe large windows and bright window seats upstairs, and three mention a private room for groups at the back.
The dining room is up a flight of stairs. One writer warned there is no lift and advised against it for anyone with limited mobility; another said the same about the stairs. Nobody mentioned a step at the entrance or a ramp, so we simply don't know.
Four posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant, and describe it as clean. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing text, so we didn't count it. Nobody mentioned an accessible toilet.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Eight posts call it walkable from Dunchon-dong Station exit 4, two saying two minutes and four saying five. None actually describe arriving by subway (most talk about parking). One notes a bus stop right outside.
- Prices held steady: the sanghwang samgyetang was 19,000 won from an August 2025 receipt to October 2026, so 38,000 won for two. One post paid 1,000 won extra for a takeaway container. No one called it expensive.
- Opening hours: 18 posts give 10:30 to 21:00 daily with last orders at 20:00, mostly copied from the listing. No one mentions a closing day; one says there is no afternoon break. Two posts report that on boknal days the restaurant sells no alcohol and serves only samgyetang.
- The phone number, 0507-1448-2889, is consistent across posts. One October weekend-evening post had booked ahead and was given a window seat; another, after a crowded July lunch, resolved to book a day ahead next time.
- A July 2026 post says the house ginseng liquor used to be poured for every table but now only on request; every other post from March to October describes the on-request version.
- The October 2026 posts hit the same points in nearly the same order: domestic kimchi, the sea salt, the ladle-it-out instruction, the review-for-pyeonyuk offer. Two posts disclose sponsorship, seven say they paid themselves, and the rest say nothing. Claims such as 'fresh chicken prepared daily' or '100% domestic ingredients' are the restaurant's own wording, so we didn't count them.
