URANAMBA
우라난바 Uranamba Ura-Namba means 'behind Namba' — the backstreet drinking alleys near Namba Station in Osaka, full of standing bars, which the menu says this place set out to bring to Hongdae.
Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →
Uranamba is an Osaka-style izakaya a floor below street level (half-basement) in an alley off Wausan-ro 29ba-gil, near exits 7 and 8 of Hongik Univ. Station. You eat hand-made gyoza (8,900 won for six), monjayaki brought out on its iron pan (around 20,000 won), the house highball (6,500 won) and draft beer (5,500 won) at the counter or at the tables by the door. It opens around 6 pm and closes after midnight. From August 2025 the menu leads with gyoza and monjayaki and the free starter is cabbage. Before that, in February–March 2025, the menu centred on brisket, dak-galbi and fish-cake soup, and the free starter was a snack cracker. We read 30 posts dated 2 February 2025 to 22 October 2026; 24 of them describe an actual visit.

Rows without a count: 3 of 8 posts.
Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Seventeen posts say a free starter arrived unasked. From August 2025, in fourteen posts, it is cabbage dressed heavily with salt and pepper or shio-dare sauce; one post says it was refilled when finished. In two March 2025 posts it was a macaroni-cracker snack, and one of them got it refilled three times.
- Nine posts that ate the gyoza say they were juicy inside, typically crisp on the bottom and soft on top. One post disagreed: in October 2026 it said they were like grilled frozen dumplings with no burst of juice, and it would not go back. It also warned they come out very hot.
- Fourteen posts describe a central counter with large tables near the door. One counted a four-seat table, a six-seat table, four window bar seats and eight counter seats. Two March 2025 posts say pairs are sent to the counter and tables go to groups of three or four; one saw guests who did not want the counter leave. Four posts say the room is small.
- Six posts describe a separate seating area behind a door to the left of the entrance, which the house calls its secret space. Two say it seats about eight; one found it air-conditioned, another noted it is roofed and felt stuffy just after opening.
4 more
- Four posts say the monjayaki is cooked first in the kitchen and arrives on its iron pan; you turn on the burner and press it with small spatulas until the bottom crisps. One October 2026 post found the pan too big for the flame, so only the middle cooked and it felt like eating raw batter.
- One post from a September 2025 visit found drinks and dishes they had not ordered on the receipt, and went back in to have it cancelled and recharged. The same post said food was slow, an order came out wrong, and the one person cooking and serving seemed overstretched. No other post reports this.
- Six posts say it is an easy walk from the station — about 200 m from exit 7 of Hongik Univ. Station, three minutes or so. Several add that the red sign with the Glico runner is hard to miss.
- Nine posts call the staff friendly. Nearly every post mentions a Japanese staff member, but much of that comes from the same promotional wording, so we do not lean on it. First-hand details include ordering in Korean without trouble and a well-poured beer. Only one post says the owner is Japanese.

Two posts found there is no parking, and the notices several others copied say the same. One driver noted the nearby Donggyo 1 public lot costs 6,000 won an hour.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 1 · no 1 (of 24 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | 7 of 24 posts |
| Separate restrooms | yes 0 · no 2 (of 24 posts read) |
Posts split one to one on the floor. The address says basement level 1; one August 2025 post said it looks like street level from outside, while a February 2025 post called it a half-basement with a view out. Nobody mentions whether there are steps down.
No post describes the entrance from experience — whether there is a step or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post's info box lists a step at the entrance, but it is copied, so we did not count it. Nobody mentions a lift or ramp; that means we don't know, not that there isn't one.
Seven posts say the toilet is inside, at the very back beside the Glico-man sign. Two say it is unisex, one adding that a urinal and a toilet share the room. One post sitting at the counter said the toilet is in full view, and got up several times to close the door others left open.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- No post reports queuing. One arrived around 6 pm without trouble but saw latecomers turned away once it filled; another guessed there might be a wait and advised coming early. Two posts say you can book, one urging it because the room is small.
- Opening hours have changed several times and posts from the same period disagree. Three March 2025 posts say open until 3 am (1 am on Mondays); posts from August–November 2025 say 12:30 or 1 am Monday to Thursday, 2 am Friday to Sunday, closed only on major holidays. Three posts from June–August 2026 give Thursday as the weekly day off, two from September–October 2026 give Wednesday, and another October 2026 post says weekends open at 5:30 pm. Most of this is copied from listings, so check before going. One post found it shut on the evening of Wednesday 27 May 2026.
- Prices are rising. Monjayaki was listed at 19,900 won in October 2025, 20,900 won in August 2026 and 21,900 won in October 2026. Nearly every post puts six yaki gyoza at 8,900 won; one August 2025 post said 7,900. Only one post gave a full bill: 45,900 won for two, for a seafood monjayaki, two highballs and two draft beers. Four posts call it good value; one found the beer cheap but the food a bit pricey.
- Nine posts copy the phone number 0507-1490-1811. No post describes booking by phone; one suggests asking ahead by phone or Instagram DM, and several copy that Naver booking is available.
- Twelve posts from October 2025 to October 2026 share the same phrases about a menu renewal and a Japanese part-timer, plus the same hashtag set. They look commissioned, yet only three disclose being hosted. We counted only first-hand details from them — what was eaten, prices, seating. Four more posts from November 2025 to March 2026 are stitched-together listings of review counts and distances, and we did not count them as visits.
