Seogyo Nanmyeonbang
서교난면방 Nanmyeon (卵麵) is an old Korean egg noodle — wheat kneaded with egg and no water, found in Joseon-era cookbooks; Seogyo is the neighbourhood and bang means a small shop.

Seogyo Nanmyeonbang is a small noodle shop on a side street between Mangwon and Hapjeong stations (Donggyo-ro 12-gil 16, ground floor, Mapo-gu). Its noodles are nanmyeon: Korean wheat kneaded with egg and no water. Most diners order the Seogyo nanmyeon in beef-and-Gueom-chicken broth (13,000 won) or the cold perilla-oil noodles wrapped in mortadella (14,000 won), often with the fried aubergine on ragù (11,000 won). When the noodles are gone, they fetch plain or lemon rice and squid jeotgal from a self-serve station and finish it in the broth. You order by QR code at the table. The seasonal noodles change: cold naengmyeon-style and soy-milk noodles in summer, seolleongtang noodles in winter. We read 30 posts dated 2 May to 14 October 2026; 26 of them describe an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Of the fourteen posts that mention waiting, eleven walked straight in and none report queueing. They arrived at Sunday lunch, noon on a Saturday, 5:30pm on a public holiday, right at 5pm on a weekend, before Monday lunch got going, at weekday lunch, around 2pm, and at 7pm on a weekday. Several mention a waiting kiosk at the door and a CatchTable queue. One writer tried to book through CatchTable and found their slot already taken. A regular said they were seated at once on early visits, when the place was less known, but expects to wait now.
- Eight posts ordered through the QR code on the table. One notes you can order with it but not pay; another says you pay at the end. Two posts say every diner must order a noodle dish.
- Five posts say you can take as much rice and squid jeotgal from the self-serve station as you like, at no charge. The rice comes plain or lemon-scented, and one writer saw a card suggesting which rice suits which broth.
- Four posts describe the Seogyo nanmyeon as lightly seasoned; one admits being thrown at first by how mild it was. The salty element is the ham with the perilla-oil noodles: one writer found the mortadella far too salty, and five say staff advised halving the slices for that reason.
2 more
- Four posts say the room is small. One counted about ten tables; another found the tables small and close together, crowded once the food arrived. On the other hand, a writer who came at 7pm on a weekday found plenty of seats, and one who came at weekend opening describes two- to four-seat tables with reasonable spacing. Many mention watching the noodles being made behind glass in a room by the entrance.
- Fourteen of the posts with a meal ordered the fried aubergine with ragù, and four describe the coating as crisp. Two warn that it is very hot when it first arrives.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 23 posts read) |
|---|
Only one post says from the visit that the shop is on the ground floor. Nobody mentions stairs, a basement or an upper floor.
Nobody says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or buggy can get in. That means we don't know, not that there is a barrier. One post mentions a wooden screen just inside the door.
No post mentions the toilet, so we don't know where it is or whether it is split by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 27 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Only one post describes the walk from the station: out of Mangwon exit 1 towards Hapjeong, left at the five-way junction, then the first alley. The 'six minutes on foot' figure appears in two posts but is copied listing text, so we didn't count it. No one mentions coming by bus.
- Twelve posts give opening hours, but all are copied listings. All twelve say 11:00–21:00, and eleven say closed Tuesdays (one says open daily). The afternoon break is 15:00–17:30 in seven posts and 15:00–17:00 in four. Three posts split it into 17:30 on weekdays and 17:00 at weekends, which would explain the difference. Five give last orders at 20:30.
- Prices hold steady in posts from August to October 2026: 13,000 won for the Seogyo nanmyeon, 14,000 for the perilla-oil noodles, 11,000 for the aubergine. A noodle dish plus a side comes to roughly 13,000–25,000 won per person. Three writers found it cheaper than expected. The May post gives no prices, so we don't know earlier prices.
- Eight posts give the same phone number, 0507-1487-0943. Several say bookings go through CatchTable, but none of the posts we read actually booked.
- The seasonal noodles rotate. August–September 2026 posts feature the summer cold noodles (14,000 won) and soy-milk noodles (13,000 won). A 14 October post found the beef seolleongtang noodles, apparently the winter dish, sold out that day. What's on the menu depends on when you go.
- We didn't count four posts with no meal: two Hongdae/Mapo restaurant roundups, a chef interview from a noodle maker's webzine, and a write-up of a TV segment. Mentions of the Michelin Bib Gourmand and the TV show are claims made by the shop and the media, so we didn't use them as evidence.
