A cast-iron-lid pork barbecue near exit 9 of Hongik University Station, on two floors at 116 Eoulmadang-ro. Pork goes on a domed cauldron lid and minari, bracken, bean sprouts and kimchi cook in its fat. In posts from March 2026, the 600g platter for two is 37,000 won, the 800g platter for three 48,000 won, and the 1kg platter for four (with steamed egg) 65,000 won; pork belly alone is 13,000 won per 200g. We read 30 posts from April 2025 to October 2026, 22 of them from people who ate here. The listing is registered as the second-floor 'Hongdae Banga 2nd branch', but every post calls it the Hongdae Banga branch and treats both floors as one restaurant.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Staff put the meat on the lid, cook it and cut it, according to 16 posts. They don't see it through to the end, though: several posts describe staff rendering fat, laying out and cutting the meat, tipping the vegetables and kimchi into the middle, and then leaving the rest of the cooking to the table. Staff also make the fried rice.
- Only the first plate of grilling vegetables is free. Minari, bracken, bean sprouts and kimchi arrive once with the meat; more costs extra, as 7 posts noted, at 3,000 won for vegetables and 1,000 won for kimchi. Two posts said the plate is the same size whether you order for two or four. One post said lettuce could be refilled free twice, so we left that one undecided. Beyond that the table gets lettuce, ssamjang and salt, and water is self-serve from a dispenser.
- Many of the customers are foreign visitors, as 8 posts noted. One counted three foreign tables out of five upstairs; another said foreigners were nearly everyone at a school-holiday lunch. Six posts say you order on a table tablet or kiosk, and one says it offers Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese.
- Opinions on portions split: 2 posts found them generous and 3 found them small. One said the 600g platter was plenty for two; others said a four-person order was too little and even the rice was skimpy.
1 more
- On price, 7 posts called it cheap for Hongdae and 3 called it expensive, pointing to 2,000 won for a bowl of rice, 7,500 won cheese fried rice, and small portions for the money.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

| In a basement | yes 0 · no 4 (of 22 posts read) |

| Separate restrooms | 1 of 22 posts |
There are two floors, and 4 posts sat upstairs. The second floor is reached not from inside but by the stairs of the building next to the entrance; two posts say staff sent them up there. One sat on the upstairs terrace watching street buskers right below; another mentions the window seats being opened up.
Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. Two posts say the second floor is up a building stairway, and no one mentioned a lift. That means we don't know, not that there isn't one.
Two posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant; one adds that it is separated by sex and was clean despite the crowd. Nobody said which toilet second-floor diners use.
No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
| 2026-09-16 | 2 posts in one day |
|---|
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices went up. Posts through 13 January 2026 give 35,000 won for the 600g platter; from 1 March 2026 it is 37,000 won. The 800g platter went from 45,000 to 48,000 won. Stews were 5,500 won on a menu copied in April 2025 and 6,900 won from January 2026.
- Opening hours conflict. Twelve posts say 24 hours with no days off, mostly in copied info blocks. A March 2026 post saw a sign at the door saying 11 a.m. to 5 a.m., and a January 2026 post copied a 4 a.m. last order with a break from 5 to 11 a.m. Yet a September 2026 post ate here at 10 a.m. Check before going in the small hours or early morning.
- No post reported waiting. Two walked straight in without booking, one of them sent upstairs because the ground floor was full at Sunday dinner peak; another found it fairly full at 5 p.m. on a Sunday and nearly full by evening. One post booked through Naver, and several list the phone number 02-323-3545.
- Views on the staff differ: 2 posts found them friendly, while 1 described a forgotten cola and a curt response. One post thought staff struggled with foreign languages, and others note that garlic, vinegar and mustard come only on request.
- We did not count 6 posts written without a visit: entries in multi-restaurant lists, a new-openings roundup, a copy of the listing and review tallies, and a promo piece with lines like 'ample waiting space' but no experience. Claims of 'top-grade Iberico and Duroc' and 'Korean kimchi only' are the restaurant's own lines, so we did not treat them as evidence.
