Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

Norumok Hwangso Gopchang No. 2 is a beef-intestine grill in an alley off Hongik-ro 3-gil in Hongdae, directly across from the original branch at No. 29, which posts say dates to 1993. A par-grilled platter of small and large intestine, abomasum, tripe and heart goes onto the table grill, staff cut and cook it, and the meal ends with fried rice. The two-person 500 g special platter was 35,800 won in a July 2026 post. We read 30 posts from March 2025 to October 2026; 26 describe an actual meal here. We set aside two posts about the original branch and one about another restaurant, and did not count one that only listed the name in a voucher directory.

Rows without a count: 4 of 9 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. They cook it for you. Eleven posts say a server cut and grilled the intestines at the table, and eight say the meat arrives par-grilled. One writer said staff grilled everything from start to finish; another had cheese torched onto the fried rice.
  2. No post calls it expensive. Eight say the prices are low or fair; one compared it with places charging over 25,000 won for a single portion, another with shops asking more than 20,000 won for 250 g.
  3. Plenty of foreign diners. Five posts saw them firsthand: one early visit found every other table was foreign, one noticed many Japanese guests, and one remarked that foreigners skipped the fried rice. A separate foreign-language menu is mentioned only in a post about the original branch, which we did not count.
  4. No one reports waiting. Four posts found it quiet: a Sunday at 6:22 p.m., an 11:55 a.m. arrival that made the writer the first customer, a Monday at 7:30 p.m., and a cold day with nobody there. No post covers a Friday or Saturday night.
2 more
  1. Old regulars come back. Six posts describe returning after years: one had been coming for nearly 20 years, one after 7, and one found the owner recognised him after a decade. On the other side, one returning visitor felt it no longer tasted as it used to, and one first-timer found it merely ordinary.
  2. Walk from the station. Four posts walked in, seven to ten minutes from Hongik University Station exit 9 or through the alleys from Hapjeong; one gives the turn as the alley between the Nike and Tony Moly shops.

Where it is

Map showing where Norumok Hwangso Gopchang is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Walk from the station. Four posts walked in, seven to ten minutes from Hongik University Station exit 9 or through the alleys from Hapjeong; one gives the turn as the alley between the Nike and Tony Moly shops.

Getting inside

No post describes the floor from experience; '1st floor' appears only in the address, and no one mentions stairs or street level.

We don't know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits. One post came with a child but said nothing about getting in. That means no one wrote about it, not that access is lacking.

We don't know about the restroom. One post's info block lists separate men's and women's restrooms inside, but that was copied from a listing; the remark that original-branch diners use this branch's restroom comes only from a post about the original branch. No one describes using it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up. The special platter (two people, 500 g) was 33,900 won in March 2025 and 35,800 won in July 2026; the rumen platter went from 36,000 won in April 2026 to 38,000 won in July 2026. One August 2026 post still lists 33,900 won, which looks copied from older information. A 350 g solo platter was 27,900 won in March 2026.
  • Nine posts give hours; eight agree on 11:50 a.m. to 5 a.m. with last orders at 4 a.m., though most copied this from listings, and one gives the opening as 5 p.m. One visitor confirmed it firsthand by arriving at 11:55 a.m. as the first customer. Two posts say it opens every day of the year.
  • Opinions on smell differ. Two posts found no off-odour; one was put off by a smell from the brisket added on, and one said a companion struggled with the smell.
  • Portions divide opinion: three posts call them generous, two say the two-person platter is not especially filling and may be small for two men.
  • We don't know whether reservations are taken. Four posts list the phone number, 02-325-7893, but none booked by phone; one simply walked in without a reservation.
