Horaengi Yanggkochi

호랭이양꼬치 Horaengi is a dialect form of horangi, 'tiger', and yanggkochi means lamb skewers — the shop brands its scallop balls and king-oyster mushrooms with a tiger-paw stamp.

Horaengi Yanggkochi is a lamb-skewer restaurant on the second floor of 92 Eoulmadang-ro in Hongdae. Each table has a self-turning skewer grill and staff load the skewers for you. The French rack (250 g, 36,000 won) is flame-torched in an open grill room by the entrance, then cut and served on a small brazier. A bar of 16 sauces lets you fill a tray-style plate for dipping. As of now: three October posts say the sauce bar has become free, and both October 8 posts list skewers at 19,000 won a portion. Through September the skewers were 18,000 won and the sauce bar cost 3,000 won per person. We read 30 posts dated August 21 to October 8, 2026, and all 30 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. 22 of 30 posts say staff grilled the skewers. How far that goes varies: six posts say staff only load the first round and you take over after that, while others say staff handled everything, from turning to taking skewers off the grill. One post adds that you can ask to grill yourself.
  2. 15 posts say you can watch the cooking: skewers are threaded behind glass at the entrance 'lab', and the French rack goes to a separate grill room. Several writers say staff show the raw rack first, then take it away to cook, and some followed it to watch the flames.
  3. 15 posts say there was little or no gamey smell to the lamb, and none say otherwise. Two noted their clothes barely smelled afterwards, crediting the non-charcoal grills and ventilation.
  4. 16 posts ordered by scanning the QR code on the table, which also brings up a how-to guide and suggested sauce combinations.

Getting inside

Lift to the flooryes 0 · no 1 (of 30 posts read)
Toilet inside3 of 30 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 30 posts

The restaurant is on the second floor, and 8 posts describe walking up. One says there is no elevator and that the entrance is shared with a maid café in the basement of the same building.

No one mentions a step at the door or wheelchair or stroller access. One post says there is no elevator, and several mention climbing stairs.

Three posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant. One says it is split by gender, with one stall for men and two for women, and warns it can get busy. Other posts list 'separate toilets' only in copied info blocks, so we did not count those.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Waits vary. One post found one party waiting even after lunch, and another saw a crowd waiting as they left. One walked in without waiting around 9 p.m. on a Sunday, and another booked for the weekday noon opening and was seated at once. 8 posts booked ahead. No one gives a wait time in minutes.
  • Opening hours: 18 posts give the same 'daily 12:00–24:00, last order 23:00', but all copy it from an info block. Only one mentions days off, saying the restaurant opens every day of the year.
  • Prices are shifting. Skewers were 18,000 won a portion through the September 28 post and 19,000 won in both October 8 posts. The sauce bar was a compulsory 3,000 won per person through September, while three October posts say it is now free. Scallop-ball skewers were 3,000 won in August–September, but one October post lists them at 6,000 won each. Seven posts call the prices reasonable, and none call them expensive.
  • Phone: 11 posts give 0507-1336-4590, and two give other numbers (010-2530-4590 and 0507-1364-5900). Writers booked through Naver Booking and CatchTable.
  • Two posts disagree on the heat: one found the air conditioning and coolers running hard, the other found it very hot on a crowded day. Nearly every post mentions the cooling patches handed out because of the grill heat.
  • Posts cluster: seven went up on September 11 alone. One discloses sponsorship, two carry a reviewer-programme tag (both by the same blogger, in August and September), four say they paid their own way, and the other 23 say nothing about who paid. Many follow the same sequence: cooling patch, QR guide, 16-sauce bar, fire show, a yogurt drink on the way out. Lines like 'celebrities have visited' or 'welcome tea provided' are passed-on claims, and we did not rely on them.
  • Companions are evenly spread: partners in 4 posts, friends in 4, family in 2, larger groups in 2. No post mentions bringing children.
