Cafe

GABIE

카페 가비애 Kape Gabiae Gabi is an old Korean rendering of the word coffee; the posts themselves never explain the name.

Compiled from 17 blog posts read in fullSources →

Cafe Gabie is a round-the-clock cafe on the ground and second floors of 147-1 Wausan-ro, a five-to-ten-minute walk from Hongik Univ. Station exits 6 and 7. It serves coffee brewed from a bean you choose, plus teas, smoothies and cake; prices in the posts include vanilla latte at 6,000 won, smoothies at 6,500-7,000, cream latte at 7,500 and a Geisha pour-over at 15,000. Several posts describe the second floor full of people working on laptops for hours. We read 30 posts from October 2024 to September 2026; 19 record an actual visit, the other 11 are late-night cafe lists or copied listings.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Four posts report a table notice asking for a new order after four hours; two of them also mention one drink per person. Two posters note this is more generous than the usual two hours elsewhere. One post says outside food is not allowed.
  2. Six posts mention power outlets, described as next to nearly every seat, on the floor and on the walls; one regular went specifically to charge a phone. Three mention Wi-Fi, and one says the password is printed on the receipt.
  3. Six posts say takeout drinks are 2,000 won cheaper; one remarks that discounts of 500-1,000 won are common but 2,000 is unusual.
  4. Five posts mention a terrace, half a level above the second floor; a winter visitor described it as a vinyl-enclosed space, colder than inside but warmer than outdoors. Two posts note a separate smoking room.

  1. Five posts come from regulars. One, back after three or four years, drank the owner's flannel-filter Ethiopia Aricha and wrote that nothing seemed to have changed.

Getting inside

The two floors do different jobs. Ten posts describe the second floor. The ground floor, with the counter and two- and four-seat tables, is where people chat over coffee; upstairs is described as 'almost a reading room', and two posts say it is the larger floor. Two posts that came at 4 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on a weekday found the second floor full and sat downstairs.

The cafe occupies the ground and second floors; six posts sat on or described the ground floor. The basement of the same building is a theatre, not the cafe.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in; that is unknown, not absent. Two posts say the second floor is reached by an inside staircase beside the counter, and none mentions a lift.

Three posts place the toilet inside the cafe, on the second floor by the bookshelf; one only says it is in the building. Two say there are separate men's and women's toilets. None mentions an accessible toilet.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 11 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-08-152 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Four posts describe walking from Hongik Univ. Station, two from exit 6 and two from exit 7, five to ten minutes. None describes coming by bus.
  • No post describes queuing, and one notes no wait. Two posts did find the second floor full and sat downstairs, so seat availability likely varies by hour.
  • All twelve visit posts that give opening hours say 24 hours, most adding open every day, though these are mostly copied info blocks; one adds that hours change on major holidays. One poster stayed until 3 a.m. and another until 5 a.m.
  • Only a few posts give prices, one or two per item; the 5,000-won americano comes from posts that did not visit. Two posters call the prices cheap or reasonable; one says they are a little above budget chains.
  • Seven posts give the phone number as 070-7739-4007 and one as 0507-1315-4007. Whether bookings are taken appears only in copied listings; no visitor booked.
  • Company varies: three posts went with friends, two alone, and one each with a sibling, a spouse and a group of three adults.
