Yangeunine Nowon
양은이네 노원역점 Aluminium-pot pollack stew and squid-with-boiled-pork, up one flight off Nowon's pedestrian strip.
Korean · Nowon-gu, Sanggye-dong
Data as of · Published ·
Yangeunine's Nowon branch is a pollack-stew-and-boiled-pork house on the second floor of the Baekyeong building, in the middle of Nowon's pedestrian strip, two or three minutes' walk from exit 1 of Nowon station on Lines 4 and 7. It opened in June 2026 — every post we read falls between that July and September. It sells three things: a spicy pollack stew that keeps boiling in a beaten-aluminium pot on your table, a platter of boiled pork with poached squid, and cold noodles. The set that puts all three on one table costs ₩48,000 and is what most visitors ordered. At lunch there is a separate ₩11,000 single portion. Open daily, 11:00 to 22:30. The shop says the name comes from that aluminium pot.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You pick the heat when you order. The stew comes mild or hot, and it is close to the only decision the meal asks of you. Even the people who chose mild describe it as properly sharp, so mild is the safe pick if heat is a problem. One party chose hot with a heat-averse friend along; she kept eating, the writer notes, "though she did sweat." Several are careful to say the heat is the clean, bracing kind rather than heat for its own sake.
- It is up a flight of stairs, on the second floor. Eight writers mention this and nearly all of them count it in the shop's favour: it puts you above the noise of the pedestrian strip, which is why several describe the room as calm. One likes the light from the windows. One, however, reports that the stairwell from the street smelled bad — the building's problem rather than the restaurant's, she thought. Whether there is a lift, nobody says.
- There is a self-service bar, and the side dishes live there. Eight writers describe it: lettuce and cabbage leaves, garlic, bean sprouts, shredded radish salad, kimchi, dipping paste, sesame oil — plus extra broth to top up the stew and a pot of warm dried-radish-green soup that several people ladle out while they wait. The advice that recurs most is to take a bowl of rice, pile on the radish salad and finish it with that sesame oil; three writers in three different months say the same thing unprompted.
- Part of what arrives at your table here is paid for with a review. Eight writers describe some version of it: a plate of pressed pork (₩10,000 on the menu) for a receipt review on Naver, a portion of dumpling dough (₩1,000) from a channel lottery, a dressed-squid dish billed at ₩15,000 for a booking review. In the opening weeks a free bottle of soju was going, and one writer won a discount coupon from a game. The offers change — one visitor found out afterwards that she had missed a free draught beer and the squid dish, and tells readers to check first. Roughly half the posts we counted involve something given rather than bought, and it is worth knowing that while reading them.
- It is a big room, and it takes groups. Twelve writers say so: seats running from the door all the way round to the back, a single long line of tables, generous gaps between them. One party of five took a six-top and had room to spare; two mention a large table and a semi-private corner at the back. One notes the air conditioning is strong. Half the posts we read carry the words for "work dinner" or "group meal" in their titles.
- You order from the table. Six writers describe a tablet at each seat, which is also where the menu lives; one adds that there is a large printed menu on the wall to look at as well. Nobody records whether the tablet helps a customer who cannot read Korean.

What people order
The most ordered dish is eolkeun dongtae-tang (얼큰동태탕 (기본맛 · 얼큰맛 택일)) — 15 of 16 posts.

Parking
1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

This is not a place you drive to. One writer says in her own words that there is no parking and that you should use a nearby public car park and walk. Three more posts carry the words "no parking," but all three are copying the shop's own facilities list off Naver wholesale, so we have not counted them — though it is worth knowing the shop says so itself. Five writers put it at two or three minutes on foot from exit 1, so take the train. One writer notes honestly that she did not drive and therefore could not check.

Getting there

Naver Map has a full English mode — Settings → Language → English. In Korea it gives better walking and transit directions than Google Maps.

We do not know whether you can get in with a wheelchair. In thirty posts the words for wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, step and lift never appear. What we can say is that it is on the second floor and there are stairs — one writer describes climbing them from the street entrance, and eight place the restaurant upstairs. Whether there is a lift, we cannot say. That is an absence of evidence, not a no.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 30 posts we gathered, 14 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Half the writing about this restaurant was one piece of copy. Fourteen of the thirty posts share the same sentences. Four of them open by declaring that the shop paid for the text; the other ten reproduce it without saying so. The same phrases recur: the line about not having to move to a second bar, the one about a table full of food for under ₩50,000, the one about another branch's kimchi being worth a bottle of soju. Two of them, describing a restaurant in Nowon, praise its location in a food alley on the other side of the city — copy recycled from a different branch and never corrected. We dropped all fourteen, not just the four that admitted it, because dropping only the honest ones punishes honesty. The figures on this page are out of sixteen, not thirty.
- Almost nobody wrote about the toilet. One line, from one writer, says it was clean and that this helped her first impression. Whether it is inside the restaurant or out in the building's corridor, and whether it is shared between men and women, nobody says. Being on an upper floor, a shared building toilet would not be surprising — but that is our guess, and we do not print guesses.
- This restaurant has been open for one season. It opened in June 2026, and the posts we read cover July to September. Nothing about its prices has changed — but that is because there has not been time for anything to change, not because prices hold here. How it is in winter, whether the opening-month giveaways continue, when the rush settles into a pattern: we do not know yet. We can say almost nothing about queues either. Not one writer reports waiting; one booked and found the room empty; three arrived at five in the afternoon to find it already filling.
- The "fifty years" and the television appearances are the shop's own claims. Several writers copy the signs at the door and on the wall — "Korea's number one pollack stew," fifty years of tradition, a mother's cooking passed down. One heard it has been on television several times; another that a well-known eating-show host filmed here. Both are repeating what they were told; nobody verified either. The restaurant at this address opened in June 2026, so the fifty years belong to the name and the recipe, not to this room. Several posts describe it as one of a group of company-run branches, with another in the Sangam district.
