Jueun Gamjatang

주은감자탕 Gamjatang is a stew of pork backbone with potato and greens; Jueun reads as a proper name, and no post explains it.

Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →

Jueun Gamjatang is a pork-backbone stew house at 71 Samhaksa-ro, Songpa, a short walk from Seokchon Gobun Station exit 1. The stew arrives in a pale broth with the chili paste and perilla powder sitting on top, and you boil it on the table burner and stir the paste in. Small, medium and large cost 33,000, 45,000 and 55,000 won; the one-person haejangguk is sold only on weekdays, 10:30–16:00. It occupies a ground floor and a second floor. We read 30 posts dated 11 November 2025 to 12 October 2026; 26 describe actually eating here (one of them a pickup).

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. The menu lists the fried rice as self-service. Six posts fried it themselves; three say staff did it for them — one says plainly they had to make it themselves, another that staff did almost all of it. The November 2025 post explains it: self-service when busy, but at a quiet 3 p.m. the server mixed it for them. Expect to do it yourself at peak times.
  2. Thirteen posts topped up side dishes at the self-serve bar. The table starts with radish kimchi, raw onion and a dipping sauce; several posts note that green chilies are not served by default and have to be fetched from the bar. One post saw a sign charging 1,000 won for leftovers.
  3. Twelve posts call the portions large: two people on a small stew who never got to the noodles they ordered, four people filled up on a large, a takeaway small that lasted two days. The one dissent is about the weekday haejangguk (two bones), which one diner found just enough.
  4. Nine posts walked straight in — at weekday noon, 7 p.m. on a Friday, 3 p.m. on a Sunday, 8 a.m., 4:30 p.m. One diner sat down at 11:30 and watched the ground floor fill by noon, with later arrivals sent upstairs. A single post (lunch, August 2026) reports waiting more than 30 minutes.
3 more
  1. Parking is a handful of spaces right in front. Nine posts say you can park there; the seven that counted put it at four to six cars (one notes the spot by the entrance is off-limits). Posts warn it fills at lunch and on weekends; the two who drove found a space.
  2. Heat divides the posts: four call it properly spicy, three say not spicy at all. The chili paste comes sitting on top for you to stir in, so it depends how much you use; a family with a six-year-old asked for it on the side and got the stew without it. One post found it salty; five say it was not.
  3. Of the 26 visits, seven were couples, several of them walking on to Seokchon Lake afterwards. The two solo diners both came for the weekday haejangguk, noting the stew itself is hard to order alone.

Getting inside

Second floor15 of 25 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 7 (of 25 posts read)
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read)

Fifteen posts mention the second floor, and seven say they were seated on the ground floor (it is not a basement). Upstairs takes the overflow when downstairs fills, and one post says weekday haejangguk diners were sent up. A July 2026 visitor was told the second floor closes at 21:00 and sat downstairs. One post notes the upstairs is reached by an inside staircase.

No one mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means we don't know, not that it's fine. One post says the second floor is up an inside staircase; nobody mentions a lift.

No post describes where the toilet is from experience. One diner says it is shared by men and women but kept clean; another post's info block claims it is inside and separated by sex, but that is copied text and we did not count it.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opening hours seem to have changed. Posts up to 23 September 2026 give 07:20–23:50 with Tuesdays off; two posts from 30 September on say it now runs until 3 a.m. All of this is copied from map listings rather than observed, and nobody says whether the Tuesday closure survived the change. Two posts give 07:30 as opening time and one 07:00.
  • The haejangguk price is split: four posts from August–September 2026 say 11,000 won, two October posts say 10,000. We can't tell if it dropped or was miscopied. Fried rice is 2,000 in six posts and 3,000 in one. The stew prices are the same everywhere, and one post says they haven't moved since 2023.
  • More than ten posts give the same phone number, 02-413-3670. Nobody says whether the place takes reservations.
  • Several posts follow a table-of-contents, star-rating, ‘tips’ template (one carries a meal-kit ad link), and one is a write-up with no meal in it, which we did not count. The ‘domestic pork backbone boiled twice in a cauldron’ line and the TV appearances come from the shop's own wall signs, and we treat them as the shop's claims.
