청수정 Mussel rice and a dozen side dishes in a forty-year-old Samcheong-dong hanok
Data as of · Published ·
On the main street in Samcheong-dong, a minute's walk from the famous sujebi house, a hanok serving a dish from Ulleung Island: rice steamed with fresh Korean mussels, laid out with a dozen side dishes. It has been in the same spot for over forty years, and you take your shoes off to sit down.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours
What sets it apart
- You leave your shoes at the step and sit on the floor. The hanok has a room on either side and both are floor seating, which two writers name as the one drawback — one describes fidgeting through the meal and hauling herself up at the end. For anyone who needs a chair, that is the most useful line on this page.
- The set cannot be ordered for one. Three posts note a two-person minimum, and one party of three ordered two sets plus a bibimbap. Another writer reports the owner split two portions of rice into three bowls, so an odd number is workable.
- Nobody reports a fishy note in the mussel rice. One writer who says she is sensitive to shellfish smell found none at all, and several describe only the sesame-slicked grains and the savouriness of the mussels. The gentle seasoning runs through the whole table, which is how most writers describe the place.
- The queue is a matter of when. People who arrived at eleven, as the doors opened, were the first in; one who came after the lunch rush waited twenty minutes. Two writers measure it against the famous sujebi place next door and find it much shorter — but one notes there is no remote sign-up and no waiting list, so you stand in the line yourself.
- Writers split on the price. Over the same 21,000-won table, one calls it excellent value for what arrives and another finds it dear for a tray of side dishes — and the second will not be back. The disagreement is not about how much food comes out, but about how much of the price they think the bowl of mussel rice accounts for.
- The rice keeps coming up short. The side dishes arrive in force but the mussel rice is a single bowl, and writers say things like "I had to finish the banchan so I couldn't order more rice" or advise a bigger eater to add one. A second bowl is 3,000 won.

Parking

Four writers arrived by car and none of them could park at the restaurant. Two used the Samcheong No.1 public garage, and one quotes 6,500 won for an hour and 12,500 for two. It is a seven-minute walk, downhill on the way there, so allow longer coming back. The cheaper public lot nearby is reserved for residents.

Getting there

Getting inside
| Step-free access | 1 of 18 posts |
|---|
No one writes about floors. Two writers describe a single-storey hanok with a room on each side, and nobody mentions a staircase or an upstairs. Whether there is a step up onto the raised floor, though, goes unrecorded.
One writer came with a pushchair: the staff told him to leave it wherever was easiest and he ate with a sixteen-month-old. He does not say whether there is a step at the entrance, or how one gets up onto the raised floor where the tables are. No post mentions a wheelchair at all.
Not one writer mentions the toilet. Whether it is inside or outside, whether you have to put your shoes back on — nobody says. In a place where you take your shoes off at the step, that would be worth knowing, and none of the twenty-one records it.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 23 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Nobody writes about getting here by subway. Not one of the twenty-one names a station or an exit; they were already walking through Samcheong-dong, or they parked and walked. How long it takes from Anguk or Gyeongbokgung station we do not know — the most precise direction anyone gives is "one minute from the sujebi place."
- The closing day does not agree. Five posts say simply "daily, 11:00–20:00"; one says weekdays only, closed Tuesdays. A Tuesday trip could be wasted, so that single line is worth taking seriously — though which is current we could not verify. The afternoon break splits too: three posts say 15:00–16:00 and two say 14:30–16:00.
- Six of the twenty-seven posts we collected were written without going. Two are lists of restaurant names and addresses; one is a "top seven Korean restaurants" guide with an affiliate disclosure that puts this place's signature dish at "bibimbap, 12,000 won"; one reads like a visit but places the restaurant in a different neighbourhood and names dishes it does not serve. One more is the same writer describing the same visit a second time in a diary.
- Three writers note foreign customers, though two of them are really describing the street outside. Only one counted them — a few tables of Chinese guests before the lunch rush. Whether the menu has English, or whether the staff speak any, nobody says.
