Korean

Yunseul

윤슬 Yunseul is the Korean word for sunlight glittering on rippling water; the house says it named itself for sunlight sparkling on the West Sea and the way food ripples as the shabu-shabu broth boils.

Compiled from 9 blog posts read in fullSources →

Yunseul is a shabu-shabu restaurant in the Grand Central building (14 Sejong-daero), right by Exit 4 of Seoul Station. You pick one of three broths (clear anchovy, doenjang with shepherd's purse, or spicy mushroom) and a beef cut (prime chuck, or top blade for a surcharge), and the 24,000-won-per-person course brings mushrooms and vegetables, spicy beef-tendon stir-fry, house-made kalguksu noodles and a porridge or fried-rice finish; the two-person set with a pancake is 59,000 won. Posts say hot pots at 42,000 to 49,000 won are added in the evening. We read 17 posts dated 9 August to 16 October 2026; 9 of them (12 September to 16 October) record eating here. We set aside 7 that were about the photo exhibition at Groundseesaw Central on the third floor of the same building or were written by a blogger who goes by 'Yunseul', and 1 is a slot in a neighbourhood list.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. All nine visits mention the windows: full-height glass looking out over the Seoul Station area, or a window seat. One writer at a window table on a Sunday afternoon saw green plaza outside; the evening visitors wrote about the night view. Four posts note the high ceiling, one putting it at roughly two storeys.
  2. How spicy the spicy mushroom broth is depends on who you ask. Of the five posts that had it, three called it spicy, one likening it to Shin Ramyun; one said it was mild enough for anyone, and one called it gently spicy but not harsh. A parent wrote that their child found it too hot and ate the fished-out ingredients with peanut sauce instead.
  3. Ordering is done at the table: three posts used the tablet or kiosk at each table, and two said the spread arrived quickly after ordering.
  4. Three posts call the staff friendly. One writer who booked found the window table already laid; another described staff wheeling the ingredients over on a cart and setting the table.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 9 posts read)
Lift to the floor1 of 9 posts

The restaurant is not below ground, though posts number the floor differently: two say second floor, and one says to take the lift from the car park up to the first floor. It appears to sit one level above the street on the main-road side and at ground level at the back.

Nobody wrote about steps at the entrance or wheelchair and pushchair access; one post only mentions coming up from the car park by lift.

No post says where the toilets are or whether they are separated by sex.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 10 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • All nine visits give the same opening hours (11:00-21:00, break 15:00-17:00, last orders 13:45 and 19:45), but each copies them into an info block at the top. Lunch last orders are early: one writer who arrived around 2 p.m. on a Sunday could not order more beef because of the break.
  • These posts look like they come from one template. Most of the nine visits share a title starting 'Seoul Station shabu-shabu (gathering spot) restaurant', an hours-and-parking block at the top, praise for the window view and for groups or dates, and the same map link at the end; four went up on 15-16 October alone. None discloses sponsorship, and one claims to have paid only in a hashtag. Three mention a free 140 g plate of chuck for writing a receipt review.
  • Prices are mostly consistent (24,000 won per person, 59,000 won for the two-person set), but the top-blade surcharge is not: two posts say 3,000 won, one from the same day, 16 October, says 4,500 won. One writer found the 7,000-won beer a bit steep; two called the sets good value.
  • No one wrote about waiting for a table — which means nobody said, not that there is never a wait. Two writers had booked; one found the room full around 2 p.m. on a Sunday, another full from early on. Info blocks say bookings go through CatchTable and Naver.
  • Company is scattered: two visits with family (one with a child), one with a partner, one with a friend, one with a group of five, and four unspecified. The posts pitch it for gatherings and dates, but only one actually records going with a friend.
  • Four posts give the same phone number, 02-6411-6440; more posts point to CatchTable or Naver for booking than to the phone.
