BONGEEBAB

봉이밥 안국역점 Bongibap Anguk-yeok-jeom Bap means a cooked-rice meal; the sign writes the name in hanja as 奉伊食, and the chain calls itself a 'gujeon' restaurant — food passed down by word of mouth.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

A barley-rice and teollegi restaurant on the ground floor of a building tucked into an alley beside Gyodong Elementary School in Nagwon-dong. It is the Anguk branch of the Bongibap chain (with branches in Magok and elsewhere), separate from the Samcheong-dong branch. The signature is boribap, barley rice mixed with six namul and a fried egg in a big bowl, which most posts price at 9,500 won; teollegi, a doenjang stew with hand-torn sujebi, is 23,000 won for two. Eight posts say you order by tablet or kiosk at the table. Several say the restaurant can't be seen from the main street. We read 30 posts from June 2025 to September 2026, 26 of them first-hand visits. It was closed on Sundays until October 2025 and now opens daily.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Seven posts say the portions are large. The teollegi pot is meant for two, yet one post says three or four could share it, and another says one barley bibimbap plus a teollegi left two people stuffed. One group of three ate their fill on a single teollegi and an extra bowl of rice for 24,500 won.
  2. Five posts say side dishes are refilled on request; one office group says they had the seaweed salad refilled five times. Several list the four sides as seaweed salad, young-radish kimchi, radish salad and bean sprouts.
  3. Four posts say the seasoning is not salty. One liked it for being gently seasoned, though the friend along found it bland. Spiciness depends on the dish: two posts say even the mild octopus stir-fry gets hot, while one says the teollegi was not spicy.
  4. Five posts say the room is roomier than the alley suggests. One counted about four 4-seat and ten 4-to-6-seat tables, and two mention generous spacing. One notes all seating is at tables, and several mention the tiger-patterned cushions on the chairs.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 26 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 26 posts

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. One post only notes the restaurant is on the ground floor. This means we don't know, not that there is a barrier.

One post says the restroom is inside, right after a block of copied store info; another only notes a restroom passcode posted at the table. No post says whether it is gender-separated or how large it is.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Only one post mentions waiting, briefly, while a table was cleared. Three posts that went just after 11 on a Sunday, at Saturday lunch, and around 4 pm walked straight in. Three mention waiting chairs or a bench outside; the CatchTable waitlist is copied information. No post describes a weekday lunch rush first-hand.
  • Four posts walked from Anguk Station exit 4 or Jongno 3-ga exit 5. Some warn the restaurant can't be seen from the street and can be hard to find; one says to follow the yellow Nagwon rice-cake factory sign into the alley. Distances like '285 m' are copied.
  • Companions split: family 5, friends 4, colleagues or groups 3, alone 1. Two posts brought children, and two saw two high chairs by the counter. The solo diner says every table seats four or more, but staff told her to sit anywhere.
  • Opening hours vary by post. All say it opens at 11, but most give 9 pm closing, two (March–April 2026) say 11 pm and one says 10 pm. Copied blocks give a break of 3–5 pm on weekdays and 4–5 pm on Saturdays, yet one post that went around 4 pm found no break. It closed on Sundays until October 2025; one post says that closure ended on 26 October, and another ate there on a Sunday in April 2026.
  • Most posts price the boribap at 9,500 won, but one August 2026 post says 10,500 won and another says the restaurant's website lists 10,500; two September 2026 posts are back at 9,500. Stews and stir-fries don't include rice, so a 1,500-won bowl of barley rice is extra. Six posts call it good value.
  • Posts split four and four between two phone numbers, 02-745-0288 and 0507-1454-0331. On reservations the copied information conflicts (lunch bookings possible, CatchTable bookings possible, no Naver bookings), and no post actually booked.
  • Four posts from August–September 2025 share the same brand copy, the same distance figure and the same hours block, so they look commissioned. We count them as visits because they list what was ordered and paid, but we give their verdicts little weight.
