Baekok
백옥 명동 Baegok Myeongdong Baekok is the Korean word for white jade; the posts do not say why the house took the name.
Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →
Baekok Myeongdong is a pork-gomtang house tucked into a narrow alley off Myeongdong 8-gil, using a ground floor and a basement. The clear pork gomtang comes with the rice already in it, 11,000 won regular and 15,000 won large; the usual sides are cabbage-leaf dumplings (four for 8,000 won) and chilled pork cheek (10,000 won). You order by QR code at the table, and the only side dish is small-cut kkakdugi. We read 30 posts from 28 January to 12 October 2026; 28 describe an actual meal. Of those, 24 ordered the pork gomtang and 21 the cabbage dumplings. One post was about the Yongsan branch and was set aside; one only repeats listing information.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Ordering is by QR code at the table. Twelve posts say they ordered this way, and three of them note that scrolling down the QR menu brings up an English version. One adds that you order by QR but pay on the way out.
- Food comes fast. Five posts say so; two timed it at about five minutes and one at six. One post, at a late lunch, waited about ten minutes.
- There is a solo counter along the wall as well as tables for two and four. Fourteen posts describe the seating; one counts four or five solo seats. Two posts say they went alone.
- Eight posts noticed many foreign diners, despite the place being hidden in a back alley.
2 more
- Seven posts found the portions large, saying even the regular size filled them up. One says the rice in the bowl is not skimpy.
- Nine posts describe walking from Myeongdong Station, four to seven minutes from Exit 6. Many say the alley between buildings makes you doubt you are in the right place; a standing sign inside the alley helps.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
9 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
| Toilet inside | 1 of 28 posts |
|---|
Only one post mentions floors: the listing gives a basement and ground floor, and one diner noted seats downstairs but sat on the ground floor. Nobody says how you get down or describes sitting there.
No diner says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post copies a listing that marks the entrance and seats as wheelchair-accessible; we did not count it. Several mention the approach is a narrow alley.
Only one post says the toilet is inside the restaurant. Nobody mentions whether it is separated by gender or how big it is.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Only one of the 30 posts discloses sponsorship. Yet 27 of them fall between 25 August and 12 October 2026, share the same search phrases in their titles, and repeat the shop's own copy and the gargle-floss-candy station by the door. They may be commissioned, so we lean on concrete facts (seating, ordering, prices, timings) rather than praise. Claims about domestic pork, the rice variety and low-temperature cooking are the shop's own words, repeated, and we did not count them.
- We know little about queues. Two posts mention a wait: one on a weekend around 7 pm when the room filled up, one saying the line moves quickly. Neither gives minutes. One heard there is a lunchtime line but walked straight in a bit later; two who came around 3 pm found it quiet.
- Who people came with is scattered: three as a couple, two alone, two with friends, two with family (one with a child). The rest do not say.
- Opinions on size differ: three posts call the room small, while one January post found it fairly roomy.
- One post found the broth fairly salty and asked for hot water; four say the seasoning is not strong.
- Opening hours are given as 11:00 to 22:00 daily in 24 posts, and three say there is no afternoon break, though most of these are copied from the listing. Nobody gives a last-order time; the only word on closing days is a copied 'open all year'.
- Prices in January and October 2026 match: 11,000 won for a regular pork gomtang. One October visitor, returning after a year and a half, says prices had not changed. Three posts call it good value and none call it expensive. Two gomtang and one plate of dumplings came to 30,000 won for a couple.
- Many posts list the phone number 0507-1349-6590, but nobody says they booked, so we do not know whether reservations are taken.
