Miseongok

미성옥 Miseong-ok: '-ok' (屋) is the old suffix for a house or eatery; none of the posts explains what 'Miseong' means.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

A seolleongtang house at the dead end of a narrow alley off Myeongdong's main street (Myeongdong-gil 25-11). It sells only two things: seolleongtang (13,000 won regular, 15,000 large) and boiled Korean-beef suyuk (35,000 small, 45,000 large). Almost every post describes the broth as clear rather than milky. Sides are napa kimchi and kkakdugi; one couple paid 53,000 won for a small suyuk, one soup and a bottle of soju. We read 32 posts dated 31 August to 14 October 2026; 23 of them record an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Ask for more kimchi and a whole crock lands on the table — six posts say so, one timing it at three seconds. Six posts call the kimchi and kkakdugi sweet, and two of them found it too sweet for their taste.
  2. Food comes fast: five posts say so, one clocking the soup at a minute after ordering. Six posts note the room is large, with far more tables than the alley suggests.
  3. Eleven posts found no gamey smell, two of them by writers who say they are sensitive to it. One post found the liver-like cut in the suyuk distinctly fishy.

Parking

2 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot2 of 22 posts

There is no lot. Two writers say so in their own words and point to paid public lots nearby; six more simply repeat the listing. The two who drove parked at Lotte Department Store or a pre-booked lot.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms1 of 22 posts

No post says which floor the restaurant is on — that is unknown, not a sign it is at street level.

No one mentions a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in; posts only repeat that the alley is narrow.

No post says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant; one notes separate men's and women's toilets.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions split on seasoning. No one called it salty (nine posts said it is not); four found it bland and salted it at the table, four said it arrived already seasoned. Salt and pepper sit on every table.
  • Portion is a 3–3 split: three posts found plenty of meat even in the regular bowl, three found it light. Two recommend ordering the large.
  • Only three posts mention waiting, and they don't agree on much: one found four or five groups ahead at lunch but was seated within five minutes, one had no wait on a weekend, one says the lunch wait was short.
  • Foreign diners: four posts saw tourists, two saw only Korean customers. Two posts noticed Japanese on the menu board.
  • Two posts describe the walk from Euljiro 1-ga Station (exits 5 and 6) in their own words; the minute and metre figures elsewhere are copied from maps. Two writers circled a whole block before finding the alley.
  • Fifteen posts give the same hours, 06:00–21:00 daily, but all copied from listings or the sign outside. Nobody mentions a break time or last order.
  • Prices are identical across posts from August to October 2026. A post about a December 2025 visit says prices have changed since, but gives no old figure, so we don't know by how much. Two posts found it pricey (the suyuk; 13,000 won for soup), two found it reasonable for Myeongdong.
  • Thirteen posts copy the phone number 02-776-8929. None says whether the restaurant takes reservations.
