Hunhun Hotteok

훈훈호떡 Hunhun is a Korean word for a pleasant, cozy warmth; hotteok is the sweet filled pancake the shop fries.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. There are no seats. Ten posts said you eat standing at painted oil-drum tables; one noted there are no tables at all, only the drums. Some took their hotteok to a market cafe that allows outside food with one drink per person.
  2. Expect a line. Twelve posts waited; the times given were under 5 minutes (seven people ahead at noon on a holiday), 10, 10, 10 and 30 minutes, and one saw the line stretch up the stairs. Posts repeatedly said it moves fast because several staff fry nonstop. One post walked straight in at 8-9 pm, another on a weekend morning.
  3. Posts found it cheap: nine said so and none called it expensive. One compared it to plain hotteok at nearby market stalls, which also cost 2,000 won.

Getting inside

It is underground. Sixteen posts described walking down stairs to the basement, and several circled the market first expecting a street stall; a yellow smiley balloon sign marks the entrance. One post warned the stairway is narrow with a low ceiling and a step at the bottom.

No post mentions entering with a wheelchair or stroller, or any lift or ramp besides the stairs down; that means nobody wrote about it, not that none exists. One post noted the narrow stairs end in a step.

No post mentions a toilet inside the shop; two said the market's public toilet is right next door. Whether it is gender-separated is unknown.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Posts disagree on payment. Two said no card reader or no cards, cash or bank transfer only; one said card worked; another said a single-item order must be paid by transfer. Bring cash to be safe.
  • Only one post described its own trip (by bus); the oft-repeated '440 m from Mangwon Station exit 2' is copied listing text.
  • One post said the shop started as a small stall and has since grown into a large space; another expected an outdoor stand. No post gives a date, and every post we read (from June 2026) describes the current basement shop.
  • Ten posts list hours of 11:00-20:30 and nine say closed Mondays, but all look copied from listings; one says open daily.
  • No post gives a phone number, and none mentions reservations.
