Woo Lae Oak

우래옥 Uraeok Uraeok (又來屋) means 'the house you come back to' — posts say the founder opened it in 1946 as Seobukgwan and renamed it after returning from the Korean War.

Compiled from 18 blog posts read in fullSources →

Uraeok sits at 62-29 Changgyeonggung-ro in Jung-gu, near Euljiro 4-ga station, serving Pyongyang-style cold noodles and Hanwoo bulgogi. We read 31 posts from 7 March to 14 October 2026; 18 of them record an actual visit. All 18 had the cold noodles and seven also ordered bulgogi. Posts from May 2026 on put the noodles at 18,000 won and bulgogi at 46,000 won per 150 g; a March post had 16,000 and 42,000. Seating is on two floors, and you queue by registering on a Tabling kiosk at the door.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait. Of 18 visit posts, 13 waited: 10 and 10 minutes, 30 minutes, about an hour (three posts), an hour and a half (two), 1 hour 40, about two hours (three), and 2 hours 58 minutes — the last after registering at 4:07 pm on a Sunday. The two posts that walked straight in went at 5 pm on a weekday and around 4 pm on a holiday weekend. One post stresses that the queue can only be joined on site, not remotely.
  2. Five posts mention seating for waiting guests inside or outside. One found the sofas and phone chargers more comfortable than a café; another also used a charging cable at the end of the waiting area. Many posts registered and then went off to Gwangjang Market or a nearby café.
  3. Five posts walked from exit 4 of Euljiro 4-ga station, timing it at under a minute, three minutes and five minutes. Nobody wrote about arriving by bus.
  4. The noodle bowls run large: four posts say so, one likening a single bowl to another shop's double portion. The meat goes the other way — two posts found the bulgogi and the galbi portions small.
2 more
  1. Four posts say staff grill the meat at the table; one adds that you still need to keep turning it. Three posts note bulgogi has a two-portion minimum. Three posts had kimchi, chive sauce or radish topped up.
  2. Nine posts call it expensive; one couple's bulgogi, noodles, beef tartare and rice came to 178,000 won. Two posts stopped short of a verdict, calling the value about average.

Parking

6 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park6 of 18 posts

Six posts parked or saw the dedicated lot; two mention valet. A March and an October post both give 3,000 won for two hours and 1,000 won per extra 10 minutes, and one says the limit is three hours from April to September. Views on ease differ one to one: one found parking easy, another found it tightly packed. One post says the valet fee was card-only.

From the station

Five posts walked from exit 4 of Euljiro 4-ga station, timing it at under a minute, three minutes and five minutes. Nobody wrote about arriving by bus.

Getting inside

Second floor7 of 18 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 4 (of 18 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 18 posts

Seven posts were seated upstairs. Nobody mentions a basement; four posts mention ground-floor seating. One post says the ground floor is for noodle-only diners and the upper floor for grilling, yet two posts that had no meat were also sent upstairs. Five posts call the place large with many tables, and one mentions private rooms.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance, whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in, or whether there is a lift. The upper floor is used a lot, and one post only mentions seeing stairs on the way in. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is no access.

Only one post mentions the toilet: inside, past the counter, and very clean. Nobody says whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 31 posts we gathered, 13 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-142 posts in one day
2026-10-133 posts in one day
2026-10-082 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices went up between March and May 2026: noodles 16,000 to 18,000 won, bulgogi 42,000 to 46,000, and the noodle add-on 8,000 to 10,000. One post dated 4 August still lists 16,000 and 42,000; the writer had been several times before, and we cannot tell whether those were older prices.
  • No post went alone; one warns that solo diners are seated with strangers. Companions were friends in five posts, a partner or spouse in two, and family and a group of three in one each.
  • Ten posts give opening hours, all copied into a header block. Eight agree on 11:30–21:00, closed Mondays; one says until 21:30 and one from 11:00. Two give a last order of 20:20. Nobody experienced a break time; one post only noticed many queue numbers being called at once at 5 pm on a weekday.
  • Several posts give the same phone number, 02-2265-0151. Three posts repeat that groups of four or more ordering grilled meat can book by phone, but all are copied notices — no post actually booked.
  • Thirteen of the 31 posts are write-ups without a visit: two course-style posts by the same blogger repeat the same summary of other people's reviews, two carry leftover template markup, and several are Seoul restaurant lists. We did not count the queues, booking rules or hours they repeat.
